Northrop Grumman Information Systems sector is seeking an Engineer Systems 3 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Merrifield, VA. Realize the rewards of conquering a new challenge The qualified applicant will become part of Northrop Grumman's Postal Solutions and Services Operating Unit supporting the USPS Delivery and Retail Equipment & Industrial Engineering Support Team. Roles and Responsibilities: Responsible for design, development, implementation, and analysis of technical products and systems. Conducts research and development activities. Participates in the testing process through test review and analysis, test witnessing and certification of software and hardware systems. Writes test reports. Monitors tasks and keeps the Project Manager abreast of all problems and accomplishments. Provides technical direction for the system testing support effort. Reviews vendor technical data packages to ensure they comply with USPS standards and specifications Recommends alterations to engineering design to improve quality of products and/or procedures. Interacts with Postal Service and product vendor personnel. Qualifications: Basic Qualifications: To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below: Bachelor's degree in Engineering or similar field At least 5 years of experience in the product engineering including hands-on experience Knowledge of commonly-used engineering concepts, practices, and procedures Knowledge of the fundamentals of Data Structures and Algorithms Proficiency in at least one programming language (Python and/or C preferred) Knowledge of Electrical Engineering principles and practices Basic knowledge of Mechanical Engineering concepts Knowledge of and experience with microcontrollers and their integration with various sensors and actuators Ability to work in both Windows and Linux environments Must be able to obtain a Position of Public Trust Clearance - US Citizen or Permanent Resident (Green Card Holder), and must not have traveled outside the US for a combined total of 6 months or more in last 5 years.
