Tenured/Tenure-Track Nurse Faculty

The School of Nursing at George Mason University invites applications full-time, 9-month, tenured/tenure-track positions at the academic rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor. About the Department: The School currently enrolls over 700 students, with robust Baccalaureate and Master's programs. Our highly ranked Doctoral of Nursing Practice (DNP) program includes concentrations in family practice, psychiatric mental health, and adult gerontology. The PhD in Nursing program has produced leaders in research, academia, and administration, both domestic and global, for nearly 40 years. The School is situated in the College of Health and Human Services (CHHS), which includes four additional academic units: Global and Community Health; Health Administration and Policy; Nutrition and Food Studies; and Social Work. The College is home to more than 1,900 undergraduate and 950 graduate students and approximately 140 faculty and staff. CHHS is transitioning to become the first College of Public Health in the State of Virginia. Research opportunities abound in our nurse-led community-based clinics, high-fidelity simulation laboratory, tele-health facilities, and the CHHS Population Health Center. Active programs of research among School and CHHS faculty include investigating cultural and environmental influences on health behaviors, opioid addiction, obesity, maternal/child/adolescent health outcomes, community interventions, vulnerable populations, racial disparities in healthcare, HIV, and acute/chronic effects of violence. CHHS is also home to the "Mason: Health Starts Here" cohort study - a first-of-its-kind, transdisciplinary longitudinal research project to understand and improve the health of university students. Responsibilities: The position requires research, teaching, and service responsibilities, including: * Developing or maintaining an extramurally funded, independent research program; * Producing high impact, peer-reviewed publications; * Engaging in multidisciplinary collaborations; * Mentoring graduate/doctoral students in research projects; * Teaching across the curriculum; * Pursuing professional service that advances the School's mission; * Participating in faculty governance.

Qualifications: Successful applicants will have: * An earned PhD (or equivalent research doctorate) from an accredited institution in nursing or health-related field; * Eligibility for licensure as a registered nurse in Virginia; * Expertise in effectively teaching in both undergraduate and graduate courses; * Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills; * A commitment to supporting a culture of inclusion and diversity.

Early career (tenure-track) applicants will have: * Postdoctoral training or academic experience; * Identified a focused program of research with the potential to obtain external funding; * An established record of peer-reviewed publications.

Mid-career or senior applicants will have: * Excellent research skills as measured by a record of extramural research funding; * A sustained record of high-impact, peer-reviewed publications; * Demonstrated skills in mentorship of junior faculty related to grantsmanship and publications; * An academic record that meets criteria for tenure in the CHHS.
