This National Guard position is for a Supply Technician (Title 32), Position Description Number D1600000 and is part of the VA G6, National Guard.

Responsibilities

As a Supply Technician, GS-2005-07, you will perform the below duties:
  • Maintains an accurate automated accounting and reporting system of accountable property equipment and components within the organization.
  • Monitors and accounts for on-hand assets and recommends actions to improve logistical readiness within the organization.
  • Participates in segments of management studies on the distribution of equipment assets and makes recommendations based on analysis.
  • Monitors and participates in the redistribution of equipment by recommending transfer and turn-in of items as appropriate.
  • Recommends lateral transfer of equipment between organizations.
  • Conducts accountable property reconciliation. Reviews document registers, document files, suspense files, and account records to verify postings and consistency with automated/manual accountable property balances.
  • Instructs organization personnel on proper ordering and turn-in procedures.
  • Prepares reports on the condition of records, shortages, inventories, corrections, and actions recommended to improve property accountability in accordance with regulatory guidance.
  • Maintains section technical library of publications, manuals, backup disks, warranty cards, etc. Ensures adequate information is maintained on all accountable equipment.
  • Periodically reviews materials on hand, discarding obsolete materials and acquiring current references as necessary.
  • Receives technical specifications from C4 Specialists to ensure production support for items requiring special handling. Purchases necessary computer systems and components as necessary to meet mission.
  • Contacts vendors to arrange service under warranty or maintenance contract.
  • Schedules on site service, coordinates service schedule with customers, and follows up to insure completion of work in a satisfactory manner. Packs and ships warranty and contract items to vendor as required.
  • Determines stock replenishment for supplies and other material within funding limitations. Assures that supplies and monies are not wasted through excess accumulation and that items are on hand in sufficient quantities and at the time required.
  • Collects and processes hazardous materials in accordance with applicable regulations and local standard operating procedures as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
  • Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.

  • Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.

  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.

WHO CAN APPLY:
GROUP I - All qualified Male/Female Enlisted Personnel (E-1/PVT - E-6/SSG) currently employed (permanent) in the Virginia Army National Guard Military Technician Program.
GROUP II - All qualified Virginia Army National Guard Male/Female Enlisted Personnel (E-1/PVT - E-6/SSG), regardless of employment status (Traditional, Military Technician or AGR). To be considered as a Group II applicant, proof of appointment/enlistment in the Virginia National Guard must be attached if the appointment/enlistment occurred within 60 days prior to, or during, the advertisement period.

Military Grades: Enlisted Personnel (E-1/PVT - E-6/SSG)

GENERAL EXPERIENCE : Experience, education, or training in a variety of operations or situations concerned with substance or content of supply actions, requiring ability to decide course of action to take, considering the circumstances or conditions encountered as well as experience using computer and automation systems.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE : Applicant must have at least 12 months of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the GS-06 level, or equivalent pay band in other pay systems in the Federal government. This experience may also have been obtained in the private sector, but must demonstrate that it is comparable to the GS grade indicated. This experience must include activities such as:
  • Experience, education, or training which demonstrates a thorough knowledge of governing supply regulations, policies, procedures, and instructions applicable to the specific assignment.
  • Experience conducting extensive searches for required information; reconstructing records for complex supply transactions; and/or provide supply operations support for activities involving specialized or unique supplies, equipment, or parts.
  • Experience performing routine aspects of supply work based on practical knowledge of standard procedures, where assignments include individual case problems related to a limited segment in one of the major areas of supply management.
  • Experience which has provided knowledge of computer components for the purpose of purchasing systems or components.
