Responsibilities
The Office of the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) provides operations support services and business solutions to the community of 10,000 House Members, Officers and staff. The CAO organization comprises more than 650 technical and administrative staff working in a variety of areas, including information technology, finance, budget management, human resources, payroll, child care, food and vending, procurement, logistics and administrative counsel.
The incumbent is responsible for management of daily logistics activities provided by the CAO. The incumbent's responsibilities include the day-to-day management of, and planning for Logistics both program requirements and personnel, as well as providing general assistance, coordination, guidance, and recommendations to Branch, Sub-Unit and Unit management regarding sensitive and confidential issues. The incumbent must effectively assign/utilize resources and assemble teams to ensure that both sustaining activities and projects are successfully completed in a timely manner. The incumbent must conduct daily reviews, monitor, evaluate, and validate the work of subordinate staff.
The position has day-to-day supervisory/managerial responsibilities.
Primary Duties/Responsibilities:
Responsible for the general day-to-day management and supervision of assigned staff, including the timely completion of individual performance plans and evaluations, employee coaching and mentoring, recommending appropriate training, and appropriately addressing employee conflicts and disciplinary actions.
Responsible for interviewing and assessing job applicants, and making subsequent hiring recommendations.
Responsible for planning and the day-to-day functions and responsibilities controlled by, assigned to, or associated with the Area, as well as the miscellaneous administrative activities thereof.
Conduct daily reviews, monitor, evaluate, and validate the work of subordinate staff. Coordinate the assistance of other CAO, contractor and/or House support services to ensure that operational requirements are met.
Manage new and ongoing sustaining work/programs, to include the implementation, tracking, measurement, and quality control thereof. Ensure that appropriate after action reviews are conducted and corresponding program enhancements are made.
Monitor and track area workflow. Ensure that customer service standards are met and that all core responsibilities are appropriately distributed and properly completed in a timely manner.
Effectively participate in the strategic planning process to include conducting ongoing employee education/awareness initiatives within the Branch, and identifying and defining project plans for both sustaining activities and new initiatives.
Provide general assistance, coordination, guidance, and recommendations, and receive adequate instruction, feedback, and guidance from senior Unit management regarding sensitive and confidential issues. As directed by senior management, represent the Branch, Sub-Unit and/or Unit in meetings and staff conferences both within and outside the offices of the CAO.

Qualifications
A minimum of 10 years leadership and managerial/supervisory experience to include effective use of employee performance plans and evaluations, coaching and mentoring techniques, and appropriately addressing employee conflicts and disciplinary actions.
Must possess a strong customer service background in government or commercial environment.
Ability to establish and maintain administrative, quality control, and measurement criteria and processes.
Experience with/in prioritizing, organizing, and assigning multiple tasks and activities simultaneously, ensuring their timely and accurate completion.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Ability to analyze problems, evaluate viewpoints and proposals, and recommend appropriate solutions/changes.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing as well as the ability to establish effective working relationships with senior staff and other high ranking officials.
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with tact, both personnel and operational, as well as the ability to exercise judgment and discretion. Organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team or independently.
Ability to meet minimum physical requirements (lifting, bending, crouching, standing, etc.).
Continued employment is contingent upon satisfactorily completing a criminal history records check (or other applicable security clearance) and a pre-employment drug-test (pre-identified position only).
