Responsibilities

This temporary internship position is located in the Office of Programs and Partnerships, National Endowment for the Arts. The incumbent reports to the Arts Education Director and is responsible for duties pertaining to the Historically Black Colleges and Universities Initiative. In this capacity, you will:

-Work closely with supervisor and the HBCU Initiative team to conduct project research and analysis; prepare reports and background and briefing materials; provide editorial assistance for documents.

-Collaborate closely with HBCU Initiative team to create detailed plans for events, including meetings, presentations, and webinars.

-Provide support in the coordination and facilitation of all activities in association with these events, including event logistics.

-Schedule meetings to advance the work of the HBCU Initiative team.

You must be currently enrolled, or accepted for enrollment, on at least a half-time schedule as a student at an accredited college (including 4-year colleges/universities, community colleges, and junior colleges); professional, technical, vocational, and trade school; advanced degree programs (e.g., graduate school, law school); or other qualifying educational institution pursuing a degree or certificate. Certificate programs must be one academic year in duration. Must meet the definition of a student throughout the duration of the appointment.

In order to qualify at the GS-4 level, you must possess two full academic years of post-high school study or an associate's degree. Note: All applicants must provide their most recent documentation of their eligibility (e.g., transcripts, official letters documenting enrollment, etc.) as part of their application package.

In order to qualify for this position, your resume must provide sufficient experience and/or education, knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are being considered.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the advertised grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

GRADUATE EDUCATION: One academic year of graduate education is considered to be the number of credits hours that your graduate school has determined to represent one academic year of full-time study. If you cannot obtain your graduate school's definition of one year of graduate study, 18 semester hours (or 27 quarter hours) should be considered as satisfying the requirement for one year of full-time graduate study.

Interns may be converted to a permanent position (or, in some limited circumstances, to a term position lasting 1-4 years) within 120 days of successful completion of the internship program. Eligibility for conversion does not guarantee that NEA will offer conversion.
