SummaryFor over 25 years, the Victory Institute has helped to train, place and elect thousands of openly LGBTQ public officials at every level of government. Our leaders have been catalysts for expanding legal rights for LGBTQ people across the country, and they have transformed our nations policies and shifted our political landscape towards equality, one election at a time. Today, some 500 LGBTQ Americans are serving in elected office due to the work of Victory, including six Members of Congress, and the nations first out US Senator.Globally, Victory Institute trains international LGBTQ leaders, collaborates with political parties for greater inclusion of LGBTQ people, raises public awareness around democratic governance, and conducts research on LGBTQ political participation in countries outside of the United States. Victory has partnered with local and national organizations to train LGBTQ leaders in the Balkans, Central America, Colombia, Dominican Republic, India, Peru and South Africa.Victory Institute is seeking an International Programs Manager. Reporting to the Director of International Programs, the International Programs Manager is responsible for the everyday interaction with local partners and implementation of programs, specifically in the Latin-American and Southern Africa regions.The ideal candidate will have experience working on human rights issues in Latin America and/or the Caribbean, grant writing knowledge, an excellent written and spoken command of Spanish (including writing, building and sending emails), and experience analyzing trends and data to make informed email marketing decisions. They will also have experience designing basic print marketing materials.General ResponsibilitiesPrograms ExecutionThe International Programs Manager will be a quick and effective organizer able to analyze and synthesize information on diverse topics and apply that knowledge to execute and enhance Victorys international programs. They will also be comfortable with program outreach, recruitment, evaluation and fundraising. They will be directly involved in all aspects of Victory Institutes international programming and must be articulate and comfortable discussing Victory Institutes work with the public, with elected and appointed officials, and with key stakeholders, including funders.Programmatic Responsibilities:Coordinate outreach and recruitment for all international programs in consultation and cooperation with the Director of International Programs.Support the team in organizing a Latin American and Caribbean wide regional conference in 2021.Communicate with LGBTQ leaders in program countries, enhancing Victory Institutes global network of leaders.Develop and sustain external partnerships to increase the capacity and/or resources of Victory Institutes programs.Assist in writing grant proposals and grant progress reports, including both narrative and financial content.Provide general support for programs and for the Director of International Programs and the Director of Domestic Programs.Other duties as assigned.General Administrative ResponsibilitiesAttend weekly check-in meeting of team staff and interns.Recruit, assign tasks for and generally manage the Victory Institute intern to ensure smooth and organized flow of information and execution of programs.Coordinate responses to email and web questions about the international program.Provide assistance for Victory Institute events.Coordinate travel logistics as needed for speakers and program participants.Assist with the creation and maintenance of fundraising materials.Organization-wide ResponsibilitiesParticipate in weekly all-staff meetings and will be prepared to report on the status, needs and accomplishments of assigned programs.Assist other teams as required including supporting Victorys International LGBTQ Leaders Conference in Washington DC.Be an active and engaged participant in annual staff retreats, and will offer support for board meetings, strategic planning and other Executive Team needs.Participate in and assist with fundraising events for both the Fund and Institute.QualificationsBachelors degree from four-year college or university, plus two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.Commitment to the mission is a must.Fluent in Spanish and English, both conversationally and in writing (will test). French knowledge desirable.Ability to communicate respectfully, clearly and effectively with diverse stakeholders.Desire to be a problem-solver.Ability and desire to work independently to meet hard deadlines.Ability to travel internationally (providing that the evolution of the Covid-19 pandemic makes travel possible)
