Job Description:DC Coalition to End Sexual Violence (DCCESV) is seeking an Executive Director with visionary leadership, a deep passion for social change, the capacity to influence systems response to sexual violence, a sustained commitment to engaging community-based organizations in coalition work, and an in-depth knowledge of non-profit financial management and fund development. This dedicated and compassionate professional will report to the Board of Directors and bring a wealth of experience to help establish and guide this new organization as they coordinate DCCESVs activities and programs, including education, training and technical assistance, advocacy, and policy. This includes, but is not limited to, the following:I. Strategic Planning and Visionary LeadershipLeverage DCCESVs strengths and seek opportunities to sustain and maximize services to meet the growing needs of membersPartner with the Board of Directors to define and articulate the organizations vision in the development and implementation of a strategic planImplement short- and long-term goals and objectives in service of the strategic planOversee project, program, and training development in service of the organizations goals and objectivesMaintain the philosophical and programmatic integrity of the organization, consistent with the movements to end violence against women and anti-oppressionStay abreast of current trends related to services and programs and anticipate future trends likely to have an impact on the workPromote and foster an organizational climate that creates and sustains a productive and motivated climate for staff, Board members, volunteers, and other key stakeholdersII. Financial and Administrative ManagementProvide leadership and oversee the financial management and day-to-day operations of the organizationEffectively manage the organizations financial resources, including grant requirementsAssure compliance with financial, grant, and human resource rules and regulationsDevelop financial and administrative processes and protocols that support the health, infrastructure, and growth of the organizationCreate the annual budget for Board approvalIII. Earned Revenue, Philanthropy, and Public SupportEffectively package and communicate the mission, vision, core values, goals, and accomplishments of DCCESV to funders, donors, business partners, and the broader communityCultivate effective funder, donor, and business relationshipsPromote innovative marketing and communications strategies to enhance awareness and increase visibility of the organization and its offeringsOversee the development and implementation of annual fundraising plans that support strategies adopted by the Board of DirectorsExplore and identify new funding opportunities, diversify funding streams, and oversee grant applications and reporting associated with awardsSustain existing funding supportIV. Internal Leadership and PerformanceServe as an advocate for staff, leading with an open-door policy, flexibility, and acknowledgement of the talent and expertise of the entire teamGuide, motivate, and maintain a highly effective, productive, cohesive team with professional and technical expertise and operational successEvaluate policies, positions, and infrastructure to ensure all are clearly defined and actionable in order to achieve maximum impactHire, train, and supervise staff in accordance with personnel policies and proceduresConduct annual staff evaluationsHold regular staff meetingsV. External Relations, Systems Coordination, and Community EngagementPolicy and Legislation:Based on member needs and priorities, establish legislative priorities, draft legislation, and respond to relevant legislationMonitor local, regional, and federal legislation related to sexual violenceOrganize and educate partners to respond to legislative changesWork in partnership with DCCESV members and key stakeholders to develop position statements and strategies for accomplishing legislative goalsParticipate in the development of public policy, funding, and legislation supporting member organizations and victim servicesNetwork with other organizations in legislative effortsAdvocacy:Foster and grow an active membership program representing the communities of DCCESVMaintain effective relationships with other coalitions, city- and state-level agencies and organizations, national organizations, and other relevant organizationsRepresent DCCESV to appropriate government and non-government agencies, key stakeholders, and the general publicOrganize local and regional forums and meetings that facilitate discussions amongst multi-disciplinary stakeholdersResearch and obtain resources that will support the work of members and victim service providersServe on relevant boards and committeesAdvocate for member organizations and victim services with fundersPublic Relations:Serve as an articulate, passionate, and visible advocate and spokesperson of DCCESV and as the primary face of the coalitionCreate and sustain DCCESV as a reputable, thriving organization with great integrity that public and private sectors seek as a partner and leader locally, regionally, and nationallyEngage in social change by issuing public statements, working with like-minded partners, educating policy makers, and speaking out via social media and earned media to impact attitudes about sexual violenceAct as media representative for the organizationProvide final approval for DCCESV publicationsVI. Board Relations and DevelopmentCommunicate effectively and promptly with Board of DirectorsWork with the Board in setting goals and priorities for DCCESVKeep the Board informed of financial activities and the financial health of the organizationSupport the Board in fulfilling their fiduciary, governance, and fundraising rolesAttend and report out at quarterly Board meetings and provide necessary staff services and assistance to the Board and its committeesAssist in the recruitment and selection of new Board members and Board leadershipPerform other work-related duties as may be necessary or assigned by the BoardVII. Other Duties as AssignedKey Qualifications:The ideal candidate for this position will have acute business acumen and a proven record of cultivating leadership and management that supports financial sustainability and organizational growth. They will also have a deep commitment to the mission of DCCESV and the individuals served and supported by DCCESVs members and key stakeholders.
