Having strengthened our approach so rapidly, with new programming and growing numbers of both Scholars and staff, we need YOU to help us build our capacity, expand our impact, and sustain our growth!THE POSITION:As the new Communications and Grants Manager, youll expand your skills with a broad base of writing, marketing, and branding initiatives.This is a new, full-time role reporting to the Director of Development and Communications and working closely with the Development Manager, committees, consultants, and vendors. Like all staff of small nonprofits, you will need to be nimble and eager to spearhead new projects!Looking back on your time with our team, youll be most proud that you used your expertise in writing and marketing to shine the light on the New Futures Family at a critical time in our growth.RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE: Communications & Marketing (60%):Help New Futures put our best face forward, managing our digital comms and web presence: Make frequent updates to New Futures websiteManage relationships with website maintenance vendor (Briteweb) and othersExecute multi-faceted email marketing strategy in Mailchimp, including: fundraising appeals, eNewsletters, blogs, event invitations, and other campaignsUpgrade our social media presence and strategy (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter)Tell the New Futures story compellingly, managing strategy, writing, and design of our communications pieces in partnership with vendors and colleagues, including: Impact Report (annual report)Direct mail pieces and fundraising appeal lettersOne-Pagers, brochures, and event program bookletsAmplify our Scholar and Alumni voices in marketing material in creative and equitable waysMake New Futures a household name with new strategies for thought leadership and media Leverage New Futures brand assets in all relevant organizational materials, supplies, and SWAG Grantwriting and Grant Management (30%):Write approximately 20% of grant proposals, reports, and other deliverables related to New Futures thriving foundations and corporations portfolio.Co-manage a grantseeking consultant team (Elevate). This team is responsible for the remaining 80% of grant deliverables; you will copyedit drafts, share data, and coordinate materials.Coordinate New Futures staffs and Boards ongoing efforts to engage and cultivate foundation and corporation prospects, contacts, and funder representatives. Special Events (10%):Partner with Development Team to host our annual New Futures, Bright Futures Benefit fundraising gala and/or our Power On Campaign in lieu of in-person events during COVID-19.Support our team on event strategy and donor relations for 3-4 additional signature events Other Duties, As AssignedCANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS:Associate or bachelors degree in a related fieldTwo or more years experience in nonprofit communications, marketing, and/or grantwriting Unwavering commitment to equity and passion to disrupt systemic racismExcellent written communications skillsExtreme attention to detail and ability to work independently with little supervisionAbility to identify and solve problems with a whatever it takes attitudeEagerness to learn and improve, as well as enthusiasm for spearheading new projects Availability to attend and/or staff occasional weeknight and weekend eventsWork-from-home during COVID-19 with an anticipated staggered re-entry to NF office in 2021PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Proficiency in Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, and/or Wordpress website management Experience in graphic designExperience in managing vendorsAPPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS:Submit a rsum and cover letter to Suzanne Armstrong, Director of Development and Communications at suzanne@newfuturesdc.org by December 23, 2020.
