Northrop Grumman's Manufacturing Operations Engineering organization is seeking a Manufacturing Project Engineer for the Advanced Interconnects and Multilayer Solutions (AIMS) Cell. This position is located in Linthicum, Maryland.The Manufacturing Project Engineer responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the tasks outlined below:Process Development Hands on evaluation of non-compliant hardware to determine rework Providing ROI justification for process improvements Developing/revising process documentation and work instructions Assisting with design of custom tooling Facilitating Root Cause & Corrective Action tasks and driving to closure Creating and managing to project plans (tasks, resources, schedules) for process development activities Specifying, identifying and procuring new manufacturing equipment for production readiness and preparing equipment for production Factory Support Monitoring process yields, cost, and process stability and capability Recommending and implementing quality improvements based on the above metrics Creating, validating and maintaining automatic equipment programs Solving of manufacturing problems (related to materials, designs, equipment, people) in a timely manner Design Support Recommending product design improvements required to produce advanced microelectronics products Documenting state-of-the-art process capabilities and guidelines for product designers Participating in design producibility reviews for new productsThe chosen candidate must have excellent verbal and written communication skills; be able to multi-task in a fast-paced, dynamic, and high visibility environment; and work well as part of a team. This req may be filled as a Principal Engineer or a Senior Principal Engineer based on the qualifications below. MANUMS Qualifications: Basic Qualifications for Principal Engineer: Bachelor of Science degree or higher in Engineering or related STEM area 5 years of relevant professional experience (or 3 years with an MS) Project Management or Process Engineering experience Familiarity with Design of Experiment (DOE), Statistical Process Control (SPC), and 6 sigma concepts for process development Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) Fluency in MS Office software applications Ability to obtain and maintain a US Secret Security Clearance (US Citizenship is required.)Basic Qualifications for Senior Principal Engineer: Bachelor of Science degree or higher in Engineering or related STEM area 9 years of relevant professional experience (or 7 years with a MS, 4 years with a PhD) Project Management or Process Engineering experience Familiarity with Design of Experiment (DOE), Statistical Process Control (SPC), and 6 sigma concepts for process development Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) Fluency in MS Office software applications Ability to obtain and maintain a US Secret Security Clearance (US Citizenship is required.) Preferred Qualifications: Familiarity with Printed Wire Board and Circuit Card Assembly processes (schematic capture, layout, fabrication, assembly) from concept through design and production and sustaining through end-of-life Familiarity with manual, semi-automated, and automated processes of fabrication to include through, blind, and microvia fabrication, imaging and plating operations on multilayer complex lamination substrates Knowledge of IPC Class 3 substrate fabrication requirements. IPC 6012 and 6018. Experience preparing/assisting with manufacturing proposals and estimates for new major programs or major change activity.
