Responsible for the overall operation, safety and administration of the Camp Allen Indoor Range which consists of, but is not limited to, the following:

Range Manager is also responsible for managing all Shooting Range Employees. This includes interviewing and recommending new employees, ensuring all employees have proper training, addressing any personnel issues, and facilitating a safe and positive work environment.

Orders firearms, ammunition, targets and other accessories for range use and resale. Computes proper markup for pricing of retail products.

Conducts required inspections of range hazardous material storage area.

Range Manager makes sure all standard operating procedures (SOP) are followed, makes sure all HAZMAT protocols are followed according to NAVFAC Environmental Management procedures, and ensures that all equipment is in operating order.

Supervises and conducts inspections and checks of rental firearms to determine that rental firearms are safe to fire and determines when rental firearms require replacement.

Maintain familiarity with military and National Rifle Association and Civilian Marksmanship Programs.

Range Manager develops programs and promotions vital to the profit making capability of the range.

Interacts with military commands to facilitate unit training and to enforce range safety procedures.

Plans, organizes, and conducts competitive shooting matches on a periodic operational condition.

Oversees facility maintenance to ensure the range remains in optimal operational condition.

Inventory control measures to include accurate monthly inventories are conducted and corrections are made in order to reflect an accurate accounting of the assets of the business.

Have the ability to learn the make-up of a profit and loss statement in order to determine the most effective means to maximize profitability.

Maintain retail inventories at levels to ensure items sold at the range are in stock a high percentage of the time.

Within compliance of World Class Customer Service Standards, provides superior customer service with an emphasis on courtesy. Assists customers and communicates positively in a friendly manner. Acknowledges customers, smiles, and makes eye contact. Asks questions to determine, verify and solve problems quickly. Alerts the supervisor or proper point of contact for help when problems arise. Professionally communicates with each customer. Effectively cooperates with fellow associates and managers.

Adheres to safety regulations and standards. Uses required safety equipment, and observes safe work procedures. Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor.

Performs other related duties as required.

Four years of experience in retail management, range management, or related occupation. At least two years of supervisory experience working in a leadership role related to store operations, sales floor leadership and/or operational performance. Knowledge of retail buying practices and retail math to include maintaining proper retail inventories and initial markups in order to maximize profitability. Ability to work in a high-performance atmosphere with commitment to service goals. Ability to multi-task with high quality follow-up and holding teams accountable to results. Attention to detail is required. Experience with firearms, ammunition, safety protocols, and professional organizations and associations is highly desired

Must be 21 years old to work at this location.

This is a "covered position" for the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment to the Gun Control Act for Department of the Navy civilian personnel. Due to contact with firearms, or ammunition in accomplishing work, DD Form 2760 certifying whether or not a "qualifying conviction" for a misdemeanor or felony crime of domestic violence has occurred MUST be completed. The continuing obligation to notify the immediate supervisor of any qualifying conviction through completion of DD Form 2760 is REQUIRED.
