Summary

This position is located in the Office of the Inspector General (OIG), Office of Management (OM), Human Resources Division. The Division is responsible for providing the major human resources (HR) services for the OlG: recruitment and placement, employee relations, employee benefits, classification, compensation, performance management, and human capital management.

Responsibilities

As a Human Resources Specialist, you will:
  • Serve as a highly skilled senior generalist, performing human resources management duties; updating/writing new policies in assigned program areas; capturing and analyzing data; creating and/or simplifying HR business processes.
  • Conduct analyses and submit well written and well expressed oral recommendations on the full spectrum of Federal HR functions that are well researched, well documented, in accordance to law, regulation, and best practices.
  • Serve as the focal point for technical guidance, accepted principles, and rules of judgment in analyzing contentious and complex Federal HR issues.
  • Consult with managers and supervisors, and provide technical and policy/regulatory advice and guidance on a myriad of Federal Human Resources functions.

The experience may have been gained in either the public or private sector or volunteer service . One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. Specialized experience: For the GS-13, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes:
  • Providing technical advice to managers, supervisors, and employees regarding classification, recruitment and placement, compensation, employee relations, performance management, and/or employee benefits; AND
  • Assisting with the development and revision of HR policies and procedures.


In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable:
For the GS-13, you must have been at the GS-12 level for 52 weeks.
