DESCRIPTION As an Architect II, this individual researches, plans, designs and administers building projects for clients. Other duties include, but are not limited to: Consults with client to determine functional and spatial requirements of new structure or renovation, and prepares information regarding design specifications, materials, color, equipment, estimated costs, and construction time. Plans layout of project and integrates engineering elements into unified design for client review and approval. Prepares scale drawings and contract documents for building contractors. Represents client in obtaining bids and awarding construction contracts. Administers construction contracts and conducts periodic on-site observation of work during construction to monitor compliance with plans. Reviews operating and maintenance manuals and prepares studies and reports. Prepares project designs and plans using CAD software and equipment. Directs activities of other workers engaged in preparing drawings and specification documents. PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS Bachelor or Masters in Architecture. 8+ years of experience in the design and documentation of architecture projects. Registered Architect (RA) in VA, MD or DC. Possess the ability to work collaboratively with other interfacing multi-disciplinary team members (ie managers, electrical, mechanical and structural engineers, and architects). Good knowledge of the applicable codes and standards. Good detailing and building technology knowledge. Expert AutoDesk, Revit modeling skills. Proficiency with the following computer applications: AutoCAD, MS Project, MS Excel, MS Word. Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
