Alion's analysis-driven tools support diverse tasks such as spectrum forensics and deconfliction, testing for coverage amid urban clutter, and antenna site planning. Alion's Radio Frequency and Electromagnetic Spectrum Engineering Operations (RESEO) offers a variety of work, from projects supporting international satellite coordination to countering IEDs. Our work is increasingly important in a world that depends on well-coordinated, interference-free spectrum access.We are seeking a RF Wireless Engineer Associate Principal to support work with the DoD CIO.OverviewAs the organizational expert in the field, develops and applies advanced Radio Frequency Engineering theories and research techniques in the investigation and solution of highly complex and advanced technical problems on the forefront of new technologies. Plans, conducts and technically directs projects or major phases of significant projects, coordinating the efforts of technical support staff in the performance of assigned projects.Works directly with senior technical personnel, program managers, and external organizations in the planning, oversight, execution, and evaluation of multiple complex technical solutions related to a program's system and technical product development. Applies intensive and diversified knowledge of scientific principles and practices in broad areas across one or more technical disciplines. Maintains a liaison role for technical matters with staff and customers, and acts independently on technical issues within his/her field of expertise. Advises program managers on challenging technical issues, coordinates the use of senior technical resources across the organization on multi-disciplinary problems, and provides technical guidance and leadership to less-experienced engineers and other technical staff. Works within a peer group of senior technical staff to periodically review technical plans, results, and work products.Recognized within Alion and the technical community as an authority in one or more technical specialties.Responsibilities Performs complex and advanced engineering work in design, evaluation, planning, testing and operation in support of system development, engineering analysis and research for one or more programs. Provides technical advisory and consulting expertise to programs and projects under development, acting as a recognized authority in the appropriate scientific field. Provides engineering subject matter expertise, guidance and work leadership to technical staff and other internal groups. Serves as a technical specialist for the organization in the application of advanced theories, concepts, principles, and processes. Serves as program technical team lead. Prioritizes technical issues, plans technical approach, and works with program managers to develop schedules and staffing plans to support program delivery milestones. Supports program risk identification and management activities. Coordinates the application of the organization's technical resources when required. Develops and provides final technical review of major technical reports, status reports, letters, technical memoranda, contract reports and formal briefings.Conducts independent technical investigations and provides impact assessments and design recommendations to clients. Provides assurance that technical projects are performed in a technically proficient manner and ensures conclusions and recommendations are supported by the analyses presented.Contributes original ideas and innovations to both solicited and unsolicited proposals that result in the expansion of ongoing programs or new program starts. Develops related briefings and provides understandable and compelling presentations of technical ideas/proposals. Complies with applicable quality and security procedures in the performance of duties. Establishes and monitors standards for internal quality programs. Provides recommendations for improvements to existing quality systems or applicable company procedures and guidelines.QualificationsBachelor's degree plus 10 or more years of relevant work experience. Graduate degree is preferred. Degree must be in engineering, computer science, mathematics, or physics.Project/program engineering experienceIn some cases, educational requirements may be adjusted or waived for more than 20 years of applicable work experience. Work experience may be adjusted for highly specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience for positions involving new technology or labor market shortages as reflected by market survey data.Must hold an active secret clearance and be eligible to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance.Demonstrated command of engineering principles, methods, and techniques in more than one area of expertise.Advanced knowledge of relevant tools, equipment, hardware, and software.Effective customer and organizational level communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.Understanding of DoD equities (particularly satellite or radar) preferred.DoD acquisitions experience preferred.US Citizenship is required #LI-JK1*CJSecurity Clearance: Secret
