SAIC is deploying a multidisciplinary team of experienced professionals to provide technical management and support services that will assist in delivering effective, consistent and timely project management execution throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). SAIC is seeking a Solution Architect to support the LGY project. The Solution Architect will design and develop the system architecture for a software development Product Line at the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). Since third-party developers oversee software design and implementation, the Solution Architect provides guidance, oversight, and advice to ensure that architectural design aligns to best practices, VA standards, and operating constraints. They advise the VA Product Line Manager and directly lead or support the development of architectural diagrams and documentation and system information requirements. They support evaluation of software, hardware, and other components against system requirements to ensure fit for purpose, balance with existing constraints, and compliance with standards.Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Design and develop solution architecture for integrated benefits delivery products and servicesCreate diagrams and documentation with all components that comprise IT systems including network topologyEstablish system information requirements using analysis of the information engineer(s) in the development of enterprise-wide or large-scale information systemsDesign architecture to include the software, hardware, and communications to support the total requirements as well as provide for present and future cross-functional requirements and interfacesLead the team and develop the architectural runway providing design direction and the solution framework for applications. Understand and maintain the technical stack and technology used to build applications Collaborate with customers, end-users, developers, and project managers to analyze, design, implement, and support IT applications and systemsEvaluate the as-is architecture against agreed upon architecture guidelines provided by VA and broader industry best practices. Document potential modernization and improvement opportunities in the portfolio backlog.Assist VA project managers with the development of high-quality responses to internal and external information requests and provide technical consultation and support on all platform initiatives.Translate technical information from disparate sources into executive-level communications Adhere to standard operating procedures for program activities and identify process improvementsFacilitate meetings with VA employees and capture meeting minutesWork independently to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practicesFunction as part of an integrated team sharing products, best practices, and information across the portfolioPerform related duties as assigned by supervisorQualifications Required Education and Experience: 5 years of IT-related experience Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, or similar OR an additional 10 years of relevant IT experience (15 years total). A Master's degree is preferred. SAFe Certification.Experience in design and development of IT architecture with a deep understanding of AWS architecture and services: S3, DMS, Redshift, Glue, Spectrum, Athena, Quick Sight, toolsets, and data modelingExperience in managing and developing in the AWS environment, as well as knowledge of Data Warehouse development or DataMart and Business IntelligenceProven experience with data movement and building data pipelines Experience in a wide range of work in creating diagrams and documentation with all components that comprise IT systems including network topology.Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customersAbility to obtain a Public Trust security clearance.Experience with Agile methodology and providing program/project management support to a government client.Experience with: AWS Redshift, Quick Sight, S3, DMS, Jira, GitHub, or comparable DevOps toolsMicrosoft(R) Office Suite, ie Word/Excel/Power Point/Outlook/Access/MS(R) Project, Microsoft SharePoint, Microsoft VisioAdditional Qualifications:Experience supporting the VA.Experience in design and development of IT architecture with a deep understanding of AWS architecture and services: S3, DMS, Redshift, Glue, Spectrum, Athena, Quick Sight, toolsets, and data modelingExperience in managing and developing in the AWS environment, as well as knowledge of Data Warehouse development or DataMart and Business IntelligenceProven experience with data movement and building data pipelines Experience in a wide range of work in creating diagrams and documentation with all components that comprise IT systems including network topology.Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customersFederal consulting or employment experience Experience working as a contractor or an employee for the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA)Experience in Jira, Power BI, AWS (Redshift), Quick Sight, DMS, Spectrum, Glue, AthenaExperience working in a consulting environment and understanding of client/customer relationsDeep knowledge of data movement and building data pipelinesData Warehouse development and/or DataMart and Business Intelligence knowledgeAbility to work under pressure, coordinate multiple assignments at once, and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer serviceHigh attention to detailStrong problem-solving and analytical skillsAbility to grasp complex technologies easily, learn new information quickly, and adapt to changing job requirements Overview SAIC is a premier technology integrator solving our nation's modernization and readiness challenges.
