Job Description

The Washington Post is looking for a newsletter editor to join the Subscriptions and Engagement team. This editor will help oversee and improve our existing newsletter portfolio, grow the audience for these products, and develop and evaluate proposals to launch new ones. The position includes opportunities to curate, write and edit newsletters, as well as collaborate on building new features for our in-house email tool.

The ideal candidate has spent significant time creating, writing or editing newsletters for a news organization. Strong news judgment, experience using analytics to make decisions that translate into strategies and goals, and a desire to experiment are essential. This candidate should be well versed in email trends and newsletter business models. This editor must have excellent communication skills because the role requires close collaboration with the engineering, product, subscriptions, marketing, analytics and advertising teams. Experience with multiple email service providers (ESPs) or working alongside product managers and engineers to launch publishing tools is a plus.

This position is based in our Washington newsroom. Once we resume normal operations, the position will not be eligible for remote work.

The Post strives to provide its readers with high-quality, trustworthy news and information while constantly innovating. That mission is best served by a diverse, multi-generational workforce with varied life experiences and perspectives. All cultures and backgrounds are welcomed.

Candidates should upload a cover letter, examples of newsletters you've worked on and a resume to our jobs portal by Dec. 14. All application materials can be uploaded to the same field. The cover letter should be addressed to Subscriptions and Engagement Editor Tessa Muggeridge, Senior Director of Audience Ryan Kellett and Managing Editor Tracy Grant.
