Summary

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

About the Position: The McDonald Army Health Center, Fort Eustis, VA provides computed tomography, ultrasound, mammography and radiography services. The Radiology Dept is staffed Monday to Friday, 7 am to 4:30 pm, with no after-hours or weekend duty.

Responsibilities

  • Performs a wide variety of complex ultrasound examinations of human subjects to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of disease or injury.
  • Examinations include obstetric, pelvic, breast, abdomen, thyroid, scrotum, soft tissue, vascular, pediatric and other. Independently proceeds with examinations after conferring with the radiologist to establish the examination requirements.
  • Assists in performance of invasive procedures such as biopsies and aspirations.
  • Receives and reviews requests from physicians and other health care providers for ultrasound examinations of patients.
  • Determines the condition(s) at issue and the procedures and equipment necessary to best meet the needs of the individual case.
  • Trains radiologists, physicians, and other personnel in ultrasound principles, procedures, capabilities, techniques, and equipment.

  • IMMUNIZATION SCREENING - Employees assigned to a medical treatment facility are required to be screened for applicable immunizations or pre-existing immunity based on occupational risk, regardless of job series.
  • SEASONAL INFLUENZA VACCINATION - This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes operating, supervising the operation of, or instructing in the operation of ultrasound equipment. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
