Summary

This position is located in the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Center for Drug Evaluation and Research (CDER), Office of Communications (OCOMM) which serves as the initial point of entry for the public for inquires or to alert the agency about situations when FDA approved marketed products may be in violation of existing regulations, laws or causing harm to consumers. OCOMM handles issues that affect the quality and availability of drug products.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises a group of subordinate employees and establish guidelines and performance expectations

  • Plans and formulates policies, programs and procedures governing information dissemination functions for a significant organizational component of an agency such as a regional office, Center, or multi-state areas

Qualifications

The position of Health Communications Officer (Supervisory) falls within the 1001 occupational series. To qualify for this position at grade GS-15, you must meet Time-in-Grade requirements by 11:59 pm EST on 11/27/2020.

In accordance with Office of Personnel Management policy, federal employees are assumed to have gained experience by performing duties and responsibilities appropriate for their official series and grade level as described in their position description. Experience that would not normally be part of the employee's position is creditable, however, when documented by satisfactory evidence, such as a signed memorandum from the employee's supervisor or an SF-50 or SF-52 documenting an official detail or other official assignment. The documentation must indicate whether the duties were performed full time or, if part time, the percentage of times the other duties were performed. It is expected that this documentation is included in the employee's official personnel record. In order to receive credit for experience in your resume that is not within the official series and grade level of your official position, you must provide a copy of the appropriate documentation of such experience as indicated above.

Minimum Qualifications :
In order to qualify for a Health Communications Officer, GS-15 position, you must meet the following:

You must have at least one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service, which includes 1) managing external and internal communications programs for healthcare provides, manufacturers, consumers, media, and policy and lawmakers affected by agency decisions; 2) planning, executing and evaluating policies, procedures, and programs established to meet office objectives and responsibilities; 3) preparing, developing, and coordinating responses to drug related requests; and 4) creating a climate of cooperative work relations for the support of the overall mission and program objectives.
