Summary

This position is located in the Department of Commerce, Office of Financial Management, Gaithersburg, Maryland. The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the Information Technology Security Officer (ITSO) for the DOC BAS Program.

Qualifications

Applicants must demonstrate that they meet the Basic AND Specialized Experience requirements as noted below.

Basic Experience Qualifications:
You must possess Basic IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies as defined:
  • Attention to Detail - Being thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail;
  • Customer Service - Work with clients and customers to ensure systems and services meet security requirements and incorporate current technology;
  • Oral Communication - Persuade others to cooperate in meeting security compliance objectives; and
  • Problem Solving - Isolating and defining unprecedented security issues or conditions, resolving critical problems in enterprise-wide systems, or developing new approaches and techniques for use by others?
AND

Specialized Experience:
ZP-05: You qualify for the ZP-05 grade level if you possess one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the ZP-IV or GS-14 grade level in the Federal government, performing the following duties:
  • Coordinating, monitoring, and implementing Departmental programs;
  • Establishing, advising on, administering, or performing professional work in the formulation, implementation, and development plans and strategies for achieving results;
  • Communicating effectively both in person and in writing on issues by correspondence, memos, papers, presentations, and/or briefings to managers and high-level officials;
  • Working with common security landscape such as Vulnerability Management, Security Information Event Management (SIEM), Data Loss Protection (DLP), etc. to define information security solutions and strategy; and
  • Developing a Plan of Actions and Milestones (POA&Ms) for security issues that cannot be remediated in the timeframe set forth by policy.

Background Investigation: To ensure the accomplishment of its mission, the Department of Commerce requires each and every employee to be reliable and trustworthy. To meet those standards, all selected applicants must undergo and successfully complete a background investigation for Low Risk clearance as a condition of placement in this Non-Sensitive position.
