About the Position: Serves as an Information Technology (IT) Specialist who independently oversees and provides network and systems administration support for Active Directory Windows server and Windows Professional personal computer systems. These systems provide mission-essential support to Joint Force Headquarters National Capitol Region (JFHQ-NCR), Military District of Washington (HQ MDW) and Department of the Army (DA) Counterparts.

  • Recognize throughout the command as the subject matter expert and is looked upon as the lead senior technical advisor concerning all Automation, Telecommunication, and Cyber Security matters.
  • Ensure that the organization strategic plan, mission, vision, and values are communicated to the team and integrated into the team's strategies, goals, objectives, work plans and work products and services.
  • Establish objectives, develops courses of action, and provides resolution for all Systems personnel for the implementation and maintenance of the organization's IT Systems.
  • Leads the team in identifying, distributing, and balancing workload and tasks among employees in accordance with established work flow, skill level and occupational specialization.
  • Provides expert technical oversight, and guidance on the implementation and maintenance of the Systems and Security in accordance with DoD, DA, and MDW Cyber regulations, policies, and standards.

Experience required: To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work of this job. Specialized experience is defined as providing network and system administration support, analyzing problems, and restoring computer systems. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade (GS-12).

The specialized experience must include, or be supplemented by, information technology related experience (paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training, as appropriate) which demonstrates each of the four competencies, as defined:

Attention to Detail: Complete thorough and accurate work independently, even in the most difficult or stressful situations. Occasionally review work completed by others.

Customer Service: Resolve routine and non-routine problems, questions, or complaints. Develop and maintain strong, mutually supportive working relationships with customers. Oral Communication: Convincingly convey complex information to customers. Present thoughts that are well- organized and demonstrate confidence in the facts and ideas. Adjust style when working with individuals with different levels of understanding; use various methods to explain and convey information.

Problem Solving: Solve complex or sensitive problems by developing and proposing strategic alternatives. Identify possible conflicts and shared benefits. Help team anticipate problems and identify and evaluate potential sources of information; provide feedback and coaching to others to help solve problems. Engage appropriate stakeholders when developing solutions in order to understand and incorporate multiple perspectives and needs. Evaluate the effectiveness of decisions and adjust future decisions as appropriate.
