Dewberry is seeking to grow our MEP Healthcare practice in the Mid-Atlantic region and looking for a Senior Project Manager/Client Manager to lead the continued expansion for our Fairfax, Virginia Headquarters.

As the primary contact between our office and the clients, the senior Project Manager/Client Manager will manage clients and projects from conceptual design through construction to project closeout to win the Client's next project. Based on the candidate's healthcare credentials, existing client relationships, and knowledge of the Mid-Atlantic regional market, the senior PM/CM will establish new client relationships and acquire new healthcare projects.

Responsibilities

Leadership, Supervisory, and Technical Responsibilities:
  • Work with multi-disciplined teams to provide quality engineering documents that meet the Client's needs, project specifications, and governing standards/codes.
  • Maintain primary contact with the Client. Assist the Client in achieving their goals, developing long-term relationships, and being the Client's trusted advisor.
  • Work closely with the Client to anticipate and avoid problems. Quickly solve problems that arise.
  • Draft proposals for new projects with new and existing clients. Work with new and existing clients to develop additional work.
  • Attend design meetings and facilitate MEP design discussions with clients.
  • Lead, organize, and schedule design team staff. Organize and direct in-house design meetings.
  • Assume primary responsibility for the design and construction documents' technical and quality oversight, including signing and sealing of documents as Engineer or Record.
  • Assume primary responsibility for compliance with Dewberry contractual requirements and adherence to fee budgets.
  • Coordinate with Design Discipline Managers to schedule, plan, and assign appropriate personnel.
  • Lead design teams to ensure coordination among the disciplines and consultants, organize and maintain project records, adhere to schedules and construction budgets, and provide meeting notes documenting design decisions.
  • Provide 'on-the-spot' advice and decisions to the Owner.
  • Advise on project billing and assist in collections.
  • Supervise and coordinate the submission of documents to the appropriate reviewing authorities (DOI, SCO, DHSR, DFS, IRI, etc.) Lead your team in c oordinating the responses to reviews and ensure that responses are reflected in the drawings and specifications.
  • Arrange for in-house quality reviews in a timely fashion.
  • Lead your teams in coordination as required to ensure CA phase of the project puts Dewberry in positive standing with the Client.
  • Lead teams to ensure the performance of site visits, inspections, and commissioning activities as required to support the CA phase requirements.
  • Assist with recruiting, evaluating, and making hiring recommendations for new employees to support MEP healthcare practice.


Required Skills & Required Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 15+ years of healthcare MEP experience
  • Professional Engineer (PE) in at least one of the following jurisdictions: VA, MD, DC.
  • Good conceptual understanding of healthcare plumbing, mechanical, electrical, and life safety systems with general knowledge of applicable codes, national standards, client design standards, system operation, space requirements, and construction budgets
  • Experience in staff/department management
  • Experience in the design of various MEP systems
  • Knowledgeable of the construction process, familiar with AIA contracts.
  • Well organized and self-motivated with highly developed verbal, written, and interpersonal skills .
  • USGBC LEED Accreditation is preferred.
