Description

The purpose of this position is to provide technical support to the Director, Accounts Payable and Payroll, the Director, Financial Reporting, and the Director, Budget and Pension by preparing payroll analyses, reports, and allocations; ensuring timely and accurate reconciliations; and providing support for on-going payroll and accounts payable functions.

Responsibilities

  1. Process bi-weekly payroll including review timesheets and attendance records and correct inaccuracies, review and balance payroll before and after they are processed, and ensuring payroll deposits are made timely
  2. Analyze and reconcile all payroll related general ledger accounts and prepare journal entries to record payroll related transactions
  3. Prepare and analyze payroll reports, including the monthly personnel budget performance report; identify and explain major variances between budget and actual.
  4. Analyze and reconcile quarterly and annual tax reports
  5. Develop reports and process improvements specific to the requirements of the Accounts Payable/Payroll Home Team, Budgets/Pension and Financial Reporting Teams
  6. Prepare or assist in the preparation of payroll and A/P reports for the annual financial audit
  7. Ensure that ASHA's payroll tax requirements are met
  8. Research tax and garnishments related issues

Qualifications

Knowledge Typically Acquired Through

  • Baccalaureate degree in Accounting or equivalent
  • Three or more years of payroll experience working with UKG Pro (formerly Ultimate Software UltiPro) or at least five years’ experience with other payroll software such as ADP and Kronos

Scope and Depth of Technical Skills/Knowledge

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with automated accounting systems
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with automated and outsourced payroll systems
  • Demonstrated familiarity with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Intermediate skills in Excel
  • Working knowledge of Word or similar word processing program
  • Familiarity with Windows-based Applications
