Responsibilities

Dewberry is seeking qualified, licensed design professionals to join its growing federal intelligence community (IC) facilities design practice as well as other federal A/E services. Dewberry possesses extensive experience in the federal market sector and is aligned across all offices to grow our market share. The federal IC facilities practice is a designated top ten growth initiative for the firm. Contracts acquired in the past two years and projected future contracts provide a continued solid foundation in this market and provide current and future opportunities for the right kinds of design management professionals.

The firm is looking to add experienced Senior Project Managers with professional credentials as civil engineers, electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, and architects to its already substantial, cleared staff capabilities. Successful candidates shall possess a minimum of 15-years of professional experience, shall be licensed in their respective discipline and preferably hold a Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification. Shall possess or have possessed within the last 12-months a personal security clearance based on a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) completed within the prior 60 months (current SCI-Full Poly preferred). Office location is Fairfax Virginia with primary role tied to opportunities and targeted clients throughout the greater Washington-Baltimore metropolitan area and supporting role dependent on client/opportunities across the nation with lead and support roles from other Dewberry offices. Some travel will be required for pursuing and performing the work.

Required Skills & Required Experience

Accomplished project manager professionally licensed to practice engineering or architecture with a BSCE or Architectural degree and 15+ years of progressive technical experience in the project management and delivery of professional services for planning, design and construction phase A/E services for full range of horizontal and vertical facilities serving federal clients and markets. Methods of project delivery include design-bid-build design "bridging documents" or design-build RFPs as well as design-build A/E firm under a qualified design-builder. Responsible for managing a diverse team that provides technical guidance and design in all areas of work associated with facilities planning, design, construction, commissioning and operation. Experience should include technical and management oversight of multiple projects with proven success in meeting quality, safety, schedule, cost, and risk objectives. Self-motivated with highly developed verbal, written and interpersonal skills. Well organized. Must be a self-starter within the context of an overall client - A/E team environment. Willing to travel in moderation and have the flexibility to potentially work on client sites anywhere in the Washington-Baltimore region.

Would be expected to provide the following to effectively and successfully complete projects:

  • Establishing and validating client Programs of Requirements.
  • Serve as the primary point-of-contact for each assigned client
  • Conduct periodic Program/Project status meeting with assigned clients and timely respond to any client concerns.
  • Understand the client's needs and goals and that of his/her organization.
  • Build positive long-term relationships with key client personnel
  • Thoroughly vet potential sub-consultants that have excellent reputation with clients and help Dewberry meet socio-economic goals in federal procurements
  • Serve on Capture Team for major federal IDIQ Design Pursuits by drafting/editing sections of proposals, developing the organization charts and selecting key personnel and projects to highlight in the proposal
  • Develop project work plans (PWP) for assigned projects including subordinate plans such as budget, quality, risk, and communications plans.
  • Monitor overall team performance against quality, schedule and budget targets. Take suitable actions to adjust performance to meet targets.
  • Coordinate with Design Discipline Managers and key sub-consultants to schedule, plan and assign appropriate personnel to task orders
  • Develop fee proposals for individual task orders with task specific technical approach and management plan
  • Negotiate with client to finalize task order scope and fee
  • Prepare project design schedules
  • Organize and direct frequent in-house design meetings.
  • Organize and maintain project records.
  • Document meetings and telephone conversations.
  • Work with Project Accountant to timely bill each assigned project
  • Manage the change management process on assigned programs to avoid scope creep and negotiate fair and reasonable adjustments to fee and schedule.
  • Ensure that disciplines perform quality assurance and assign a QA manager for each task to ensure quality plan is followed, coordinate among all of the disciplines involved, including outside consultants. To ensure each submittal is of expected quality and meets client expectations.
  • Coordinate the responses to client reviews. Ensure that responses are in fact reflected in the drawings and specifications.
