Responsibilities

As a Program Analyst , you will:
  • Perform special tasks for the Assistant Secretary involving fair housing issues specifically relating to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
  • Serve as a trouble-shooter and resource person for the Assistant Secretary on major programmatic and policy issues involving ADA, Section 504, equal opportunity and civil rights in housing, employment, and business opportunities.
  • Work with the Assistant Secretary to ensure that Secretarial initiatives and priorities are met and carries out a variety of other special projects under the supervision of the Assistant Secretary.

This position is located in the Office of Fair Housing and Equal Opportunity (FHEO). FHEO's mission is to create equal housing opportunities for all persons living in America by administering laws that prohibit discrimination in housing on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, and familial status.

The official duty station for this position will be in Washington, DC. Failure to report to duty at this location may be grounds for a disciplinary action, including removal.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

Specialized Experience: For the GS-13, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service. You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement. Specialized experience for this position includes:

- Evaluating and analyzing program issuances to measure the impact and compliance of civil rights and fair housing requirements; AND
- Communicating information to the internal and external stakeholders through oral presentations, training, education and outreach campaigns and written reports.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

- A one year probationary period may be required.

- Must successfully complete a background investigation.

- Complete a Declaration for Federal Employment to determine your suitability for Federal employment, at the time requested by the agency

Rating:
Your application will be evaluated in the following areas: Analytical, Communication, Technical. Category rating will be used to rank and select eligible candidates. If qualified, you will be assigned to one of three quality level categories: Best Qualified, Better Qualified, and Qualified (Good) depending on your responses to the online questions, regarding your experience, education, and training related to this position. Your rating may be lowered if your responses to the online questions are not supported by the education and/or experience described in your application.
