This position is located with the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Central Office, Office of Equal Employment Opportunity in Washington, D.C., Duty Station: Reston, Virginia.

Responsibilities

Serve in the Office of Civil Rights and Equal Employment Opportunity Programs (EEOCP) and performs a variety of technical work in support of the Office's internal responsibilities for the Bureau:
* Serve as an expert and consultant on EEO laws, policies, processes, and procedures to managers, supervisors, and employees.
* Explain or provide guidance on EEO laws, regulations, policies, standards, or procedures to management, personnel, or clients.
* Develop plans, strategies and feasible resolution agreements to reduce or resolve complaints of discrimination.
* Conduct fact-finding and interviews with aggrieved individuals and responsible management officials.
* Review reports of investigation for accuracy and sufficiency.
* Conduct inquiries and interviews to obtain or verify information.
* Collect, analyze, and prepare records using complaint data related to allegations of discrimination.
* Foster cooperation, collaboration, and communication to facilitate consensus and accomplish tasks.
* Provide training regarding EEO principles, processes, or issues to individuals and groups.
* Prepare all correspondence necessary to the processing of a complaint case.

Qualifications

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: (OPM Operating Manual, Qualification Standards for Administrative and Management Positions, GS-0260).

GS-12: 1 year of full-time specialized experience or the equivalent, comparable to at least the GS-11 in the Federal Service (obtained in either the public or private sector). This experience must include 5 of the 8 activities: 1.) performing EEO duties including conducting investigation of complaints; 2.) presenting training designed to prevent unlawful discrimination and reduce complaints in the federal sector; 3.) providing advisory services to managers on policies, procedures, laws and regulation specifically related to the federal EEO complaint process, reasonable accommodation, special emphasis programs; 4.) negotiating complaint resolution; 5.) conducting program evaluation to determine EEO effectiveness in an organization; 6.) resolve complaint cases; 7.) analyze and interpret pertinent documents; 8.) advising management of routine requirements and goals to enhance employment opportunities to develop a diverse workforce.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position, and is typically in or related to the position to be filled.
