The responsibilities of this position are currently completed remotely. Clinical Fellows are welcome to apply. 

Summary: Responsible for providing speech-language therapy services, including assessment, treatment, and documentation according to each student’s Individual Education Plan (IEP); as well as providing collaboration to classroom teams on the communication needs of the students.  The SLP in the Autism program is responsible for providing collaborative coaching/consulting regarding speech and language intervention for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder in the areas of speech and articulation, vocal volume, augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), receptive language, expressive language, and pragmatics.

Responsibilities

  • Provide services in accordance with the IEP and as outlined with IDEA and COMAR regulations
  • Develop treatment plans and recommendations reflective of evidence-based practices
  • Administer assessments for programming, recommendations and IEP development
  • Complete appropriate documentation in a timely manner
  • Attend weekly staffing/IEP team meetings
  • Attend classroom team, parent, and IEP meetings
  • Write speech and language evaluations and reports when necessary to determine present levels and recommendation for service
  • Provide consultation to classroom teachers and parents

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in the field of Speech-Language Pathology
  • Maryland State licensure in Speech-Language Pathology
  • Knowledge of current trends in delivery of school-based speech-language therapy services
  • Strong organizational skills and time management
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to effectively work as a collaborative team member
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Cooperative participation within an interdisciplinary team
  • Computer skills related to common office tasks such as email, conducting internet searches, and using MSOffice (e.g., MSWord, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Experience working in a school-based setting preferred
  • Experience working with individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder and/or related disorders preferred
  • Experience developing and writing Individual Education Plans (IEP) and attending IEP meetings preferred
  • Knowledge of and experience with assistive technology preferred
  • Knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis preferred
  • Knowledge of research related to fields of Autism Spectrum Disorder and Evidence-Based Practices for Speech-Language Therapy preferred
