The Cyber Security Engineer is responsible for ensuring Information Assurance/Information Security through vulnerability assessments, Risk Management Framework compliance, required patching, testing and documentation, and local area account processing. All work must be performed in accordance with applicable DoD, DoN, BUMED and NMRC policies.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Lead the development of accreditation packages thru the RMF process
  • Perform information Assurance/Information security through vulnerability assessments, Risk Management Framework compliance, required patching, testing and documentation, and local area account processing
  • Ensure all work is performed in accordance with applicable DoD, DoN, BUMED and NMRC policies
  • Support security reviews of all new or modified systems and configurations to ensure a consistent security posture
  • Develop and maintain an acceptable upgrade/maintenance plan with the ISSM and MID management team on estimated time to mitigate all vulnerability on the scan results
  • Provide and maintain all documentation required to comply with RMF Certification and Accreditation requirements
  • Identify, mitigate, resolve and document IA issues and concerns
  • Perform remediation or imaging activities to elevate a security threat as necessary
  • Support intrusion detection Systems (IDS), Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS), vulnerability scanning solutions, anti-virus and anti-spyware protection systems, host-based security systems (HBSS), digital forensics, managed firewalls, web-content filtering, web proxy services, VPN configuration and maintenance, and other systems, networks, and applications
  • Ensure that all Information Technology system(s) are brought into compliance with the latest RMF standards and maintained at that level
  • Assist in the detailed investigation and documentation of security incidents as required, promptly reporting any suspected or confirmed security breaches or policy violations to the NMRC ISSM and MID management team
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications: (To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.)
  • High school diploma/GED required
  • 3 years supporting DOD IA and Cybersecurity programs
  • Background check required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to obtain a Secret clearance
  • Ability to travel
  • Knowledgeable of Enterprise Mission Assurance Support Service (eMASS)
  • Ability to quickly learn new systems and associated software applications for proficient execution of tasks
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with time constraints in a fast-paced contract manufacturing environment
  • to speak effectively before groups of internal and/or external customers or employees
  • Organized and effective communicator and collaborator with diverse internal and external stakeholder groups and individuals
  • Ability to grasp system concepts and communicate their applications
  • Strong working experience with RMF, the ATO process, and DOD policies and security requirements

  • The employee will normally work in a temperature-controlled office environment, with frequent exposure to electronic office equipment.
  • During visits to areas of operations, may be exposed to extreme cold or hot weather conditions. Is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and loud noise.
