The Emmes Company, LLC is searching for a Clinical Research Data Information Specialist located in our Rockville, Maryland, Frederick, Maryland and/or Tysons Corner, Virginia office. Emmes provides flexibility for remote work or office location preference, dependent upon position.

Primary Purpose

The Clinical Research Data Information Specialist works closely with the NINDS and scientific, logistical and administrative support staff from neurology-specific subject matter experts to develop standardized data collection terminology for use on sponsored clinical trials in over 20 different neurological disease areas. Duties will include maintaining website components, making database changes and adding new material, consolidating disparate case report forms into a unified template, creating and receiving reports from the database and communicating with website programming staff, literature searches, committee coordination, meeting support, and assisting research staff using the NINDS Common Data Elements website.


  • Works on multiple projects and activities simultaneously
  • Communicates effectively with NINDS client personnel, team members, IT staff and committees
  • Develops and distributes meeting agendas, reports, and materials
  • Collaborates with the project team and client personnel to manage subject matter experts in working groups and oversight committees
  • Drafts CDEs and documents and makes updates to the Common Data Elements database and website
  • Provide support to the IT staff by consulting and responding to error reports, problems or questions
  • Participates in efficient communication with project team to ensure deadlines are met


  • Bachelor's degree (in a scientific discipline preferred) with two years of professional experience in a scientific or health related position or master's degree in lieu of professional experience
  • Proficiency with web-based searching methodology
  • Familiarity with relational database design and website development
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required, especially Excel
  • Familiarity with medical/biological terminology specific to neurologic disorders will be beneficial
  • Experience with Drupal websites a plus
  • Ability to work independently as a member of a unified team
  • Excellent organization, time management, and administrative skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize various ongoing projects
  • Strong attention to detail and flexibility
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills: professionalism, accountability and customer service
