Job Announcement

Functions as the enterprise end-user communications manager responsible for providing support to all end users devices in the Fairfax County Enterprise environment. Oversees the coordination and execution of providing end user devices to the customer. This includes workstations/clients, monitors, voice, personal IT devices (PITD), multi-functions devices, printers, scanners, plotters, copiers, video, and A/V devices. This includes areas of elevated end user support levels, agency contact centers, call recording functions, and desktop and phone applications. Works with agency representatives in analysis and documentation of technical business processes and develops appropriate solutions that meets customer’s requirements. Installs, configures, maintains, and troubleshoots Video Teleconferencing Communications (VTC) solutions. Performs expert consultation relating to small to mid-sized space planning and renovation efforts. Performs field inspections, cut overs, installations, troubleshoots site-level issues, and replaces defective equipment, as necessary. Serves as part of a team in the Enterprise Unified Communications Team to support telephony requirements, desktop/laptop requirements, and response to customer agencies’ needs 24 x 7. Performs other duties as assigned. Works under general supervision of the Platform Technology Manager.

Employment Standards

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to the following:

Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree in computer science, or closely related field, plus two years' systems programming experience in a complex information systems environment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Knowledge of PBX functionalities and Voice/Telephony components on the desktop, and desk phones.
  • Five plus years’ experience understanding of DHCP, DNS, VLAN, and communications desktop application configuration and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Knowledge of desktop/laptop Windows Operating Systems, and the process of supporting soft client phones, and other enterprise applications.
  • General understanding of call routing, trunking and dial plans.
  • General knowledge of contact, and call center functionality and procedures.
  • Knowledge of converged technology protocols.
  • Basic VoIP and SIP protocols.
  • Five years of experience supporting an enterprise desktop support team and working with service desk staff.
  • Three years of experience supporting telephony soft client applications on end users devices.
  • Three years of experience working with any of the latest Avaya applications and Microsoft Teams PBX.
  • Supervised more than ten personnel in regional locations within an enterprise network.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Work is generally sedentary, performed in a normal office environment. Some lifting of equipment will be necessary when installing pcs and servers. All duties performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
