Summary

This position is part of the Defense Media Activity. The incumbent will serve as Project Manager for major projects with responsibility for the overall justification, design, management, control, execution and closeout of assigned projects.

Responsibilities

As a PROJECT MANAGER at the GS-0301-13 some of your typical work assignments may include:
  • Oversees projects assigned to the Project Management Office exercising independent judgment in overseeing preliminary planning efforts and works with cross-functional/multi-organizational subject matter experts.
  • Anticipates project needs/problems and provides timely, effective guidance to the project owners on the management of assigned projects.
  • Coordinates, develops and interprets DMA policies on project management such as cost, schedule control, and reporting.
  • Uses project management principles and practices in conjunction with policies, regulations and procedures on the programming, planning and design, information technology project management, acquisition and procurement project management, and facilities and construction project management in assessing, tracking, and determining status of on-going projects.

Qualifications

You may qualify at the GS-13, if you fulfill the following qualifications:

A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service:
  • Overseeing projects' preliminary planning and works with cross-functional/multi-organizational subject matter experts;
  • Performing action officer duties to ensure priority actions are coordinated and executed accurately;
  • Conducting complex studies and analyses; establishing and maintaining business processes.
AND
  • Must be Project Management certified from an accredited institution.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education

Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
