Description: Job Title: Engineering Technician Job Code: SAS20201 - 1 Job Location: Chantilly, VA Job Description: Technical support engineer with at least four years of experience in opto-mechanical assemblies with the ability to train on the technology. These tasks may include developing instructional materials and/or web-based publications, as well as supporting training courses and demonstrations. Essential Functions: Builds, aligns and qualifies precision opto-mechanical assemblies and systems Disassemble and re-assembles, aligns and qualifies subassemblies and systems down to piece-part level Inspects optical components for damage Cleans UV optical components, such as mirrors, beam splitters, polarizers, wave plates, and lenses De-bonds and re-mounts optical components in lens cells Maintains equipment and ensures calibration needs are met Facilitates training events and assists instructor as needed Assists training developer with course development Works with engineering to evaluate and implement process improvements Ensures proper operation of equipment by performing scheduled preventative maintenance Actively participates in building a collaborative and productive team environment Qualifications: TS/SCI w/Poly 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience Previous experience operating precision hand tools such as micrometers and calipers Preferred Additional Skills: Understanding of basic shop math such as ratios, graphs, algebra, and basic geometry Experience with Microsoft Office and computer proficient The ideal candidate will have previous experience in optical fabrication
