Senior Business Systems Analyst

The George Mason University Controller's Office is looking for an enthusiastic and energetic person for a Senior Business Systems Analyst to support a Chart of Accounts transformation project within our Banner ERP environment. George Mason University has a strong institutional commitment to the achievement of excellence and diversity among its faculty and staff, and strongly encourages candidates to apply who will enrich Mason's academic and culturally inclusive environment.

Responsibilities: This temporary position is responsible for supporting the delivery of the Chart of Accounts (COA) Redesign project in GMU's Banner ERP system, creating technical solutions to business problems, analyzing processes for maximum use of delivered system functionality, developing specs to update relevant interface files to other systems, creating reports, writing scripts to meet departmental data needs using Banner ERP and other databases, and serving as a dedicated project resource/subject matter expert (SME).

This is a position that requires both technical and functional business knowledge of the capabilities and use of ERP systems, including integration with other modules within Banner (e.g., HR, Student, Grants, Payables) as well as ancillary systems requiring interfaces to/from Banner. The position will be instrumental in understanding unit reporting needs and accommodating them in the redesigned COA using Banner functionality or data warehouse reporting, minimizing the need for and reliance on shadow systems which create inefficiency and risk inaccurate data.

It is anticipated that this position would be active through at least 6 months after the Go-Live of the redesigned COA (target estimate 7/1/2022) to support the implementation and related training, documentation, and post-go-live support.

Required Qualifications: * Strong technical knowledge of ERP database functionality and management; * Strong functional knowledge of financial business practices (G/L, Grants, Billing and Receivables, Reporting); * Ability to create a bridge between functional and technical staff to facilitate dialogue, translate concerns, communicate to executive leadership, and identify roadblocks to project success; * Ability to create requirements documentation, design specifications, and facilitate user acceptance testing (UAT); * Familiarity with project management tools and techniques; * Ability to develop positive working relationships across multiple constituencies; * Ability to influence without authority to maintain progress and accomplish goals; * Bachelor's degree in business administration, computer information systems, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience; * At least 10 years of experience as an analyst, including 5 years' experience using financial ERP applications and processes, including COA design/usage.

Preferred Qualifications: * Experience providing technical solutions for business/accounting needs described by functional end-users; including operational support for existing tools or designing new solutions; * Project Management certification a plus; * Master's degree in business administration, computer information systems or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience is preferred; * Experience working in Higher Education industry; * Expertise with Ellucian Banner ERP; * Experience with Microstrategy or other similar data reporting and visualization tools a plus.

"For full consideration, applicants must apply at https://jobs.gmu.edu/ ; complete and submit the online application; and upload a cover letter, resume, and a list of three professional references with contact information."
