Responsibilities

If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for providing support to Assistant United States Attorney's (AUSAs), coaching and facilitating duties and responsibilities of the support team.

Typical work assignments will include:
- Supports the supervision and management of the Early Case Assessment Section (ECAS).
- Leads the team of paralegal specialists in identifying, distributing and balancing the workload and tasks among paralegal specialists in accordance with established work flow and/or skill level.
- Conducts research and applies a wide range of quantitative and qualitative methods to identify, assess, analyze and improve team effectiveness, efficiency and work products.
- Performs specialized legal research for Assistant United States Attorney's (AUSAs) in relation to intake/papering work.
- Conducts difficult interviews with law enforcement officer(s) regarding the papering process and proceedings.
- Submits all warrants handled by ECAS in accordance with established policies.

Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.

Qualifications

To be found qualified at the GS-12 level, applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in the Federal service. Experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled.

Specialized Experience:

Specialized experience is defined as experience that has equipped the applicant with the
knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position. Examples of specialized experience include performing the following types of duties: Communicating the Section's goals, objectives and procedures to a team of paralegal specialists; Observing training needs and making recommendations for development; Providing advice on work methods, practices, procedures, and assisting staff in identifying solutions; Conducting research and applying a wide range of methods to improve team effectiveness, efficiency and work products; Observing paralegal functions and operations and making recommendations to support the Attorneys assigned to the Section; Providing technical advice and recommendations to Attorneys/screeners on the merits and demerits of potential cases, probabilities of success of cases in light of the strengths and weaknesses of probable cause and potential defenses.
