Responsibilities
Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Professional Responsibility, Assistant Commissioner, located in Washington, DC.
This position is located at the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), Office of Professional Responsibility (OPR). The purpose of the position is to serve as the Deputy Chief of Staff, a first line supervisor over a team of Special Assistants and Management Program Analysts who are engaged in managing critical program segments for which the scope and effect of the work have an OPR-wide impact.
This position starts at a salary of $121,316.00 (GS-14, Step 1) to $157,709.00 (GS-14, Step 10) with promotion potential to $157,709 (GS-14 Step 10). In this position, you will be performing the below duties:

Drug Testing: This job has been identified as "testing designated" under our Drug-Free Workplace Program. Therefore, you must satisfactorily complete a drug test prior to being hired. The agency will schedule, provide and pay for the drug test. Once on board, you will be subject to random drug testing.
Security Clearance: You will be required to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
Supervisory Probationary Period: You may be required to serve an 18 month probationary period upon appointment.
Leadership Training: All newly appointed first-time CBP Supervisors are required to complete mandatory training. The training will be scheduled by the Office of Training and Development within the first 90 days of appointment. The duration of the training will include SLT three (3) weeks of residence training in Harpers Ferry, WV. Note: This training may be waived if previously completed.
Telework may be available on a regular recurring or situational basis.

Qualifications
Experience: You qualify for the GS-14 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as:
- Managing schedules, performance, and long range planning for administrative programs;
- Collecting relevant information from varied sources for the preparation of reports and developing communication solutions in a variety of media to suit the requirements of diverse audiences;
- Performing liaison functions applicable to administrative programs' management and staff, as well as all levels of leadership; and
- Researching, providing analysis, and working closely with subject matter experts within the program office and/or external offices on program matters.
You must:
- Meet all qualification requirements, including education if applicable to this position, subject to verification at any stage of the application process; and
- Meet all applicable Time in Grade requirements (current federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the federal service) by 11/04/2020.
