Summary

You will serve as a CEMENT FINISHER in the INSTALLATION FACILITIES AND ENVIRONMENT DIVISION of MARINE CORPS BASE QUANTICO.

Responsibilities

  • You will provide management, operation, and execution of maintenance and repair to real property, in support of mission requirements.
  • You will maintain, repair, and construct rigid pavements or similar cement and concrete surfaces.
  • You will maintain, repair, and construct flexible roads, pavements, parking areas, airdromes, bike paths, or similar surfaces of sketches.
  • You will utilize safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe and clean work environment.
  • You will use and maintain tools and equipment. Use screeds, hand and power tools, floats, edgers, abrasives, and other cement finishing tools.

  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
  • You will be required to possess and maintain a government driver's license. Government driver's license training will be provided by the government.
  • You will frequently perform heavy lifting up to 100 pounds; Exert considerable physical effort while using pickax or air hammer to remove damaged pavement; Work requires extensive standing, walking, bending, and kneeling.
  • You will work outside in all kinds of weather and frequently exposed to dust and dirt; Work near moving parts of equipment and machinery. Regularly exposed to the possibility to cuts, scrapes, bruises,falls,falling materiel or injury from equipment.

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. The Screen-out Element for this position is: I have the ability to perform common tasks including 1) Maintaining and repairing rigid and flexible pavements, roads, and runways 2) Planning and laying out work from blueprints, rough sketches and work orders 3) Removing concrete using buggies, wheelbarrows, or shovels . I work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.

Additional information

A relocation incentive is generally a single payment intended to offset some of the relocation costs experienced by the selectee. A relocation incentive may be authorized.

This position may require rotating shift work.

Emergency overtime may be required.

May be required to wear protective clothing such as hard hats, steel toed shoes, gloves masks, and aprons.

This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.

This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program.
