Position Summary / Responsibilities - We are currently seeking a motivated, career and customer-oriented VMware/Cloud Engineer to join our team in Washington DC. The ideal candidate will provide client support for VMWare and Cloud environments. Experience with scripting, Microsoft/Linux, and SAN is desired. The ideal candidate will also have a Solid understanding of networking concepts and principles and have the ability to write technical documentation. Must have availability to work non-standard hours when required. Duties/Tasks and Responsibilities: - Applies engineering concepts in the analysis, design and operations of VMware and cloud solutions. Diagnoses and remediates problems; plans installations, migrations, patching and cutovers of infrastructure components and capabilities. May review existing infrastructure designs and capabilities with the goal of making refinements, reducing operating overhead, enhancing operations efficiency, automation of repetitive tasks and improving current infrastructure designs. Demonstrates experience as follows: Have worked with VMWare vSphere 5.5/6.0/6.5 or newer . Experience troubleshooting and resolving VMWare and cloud issues through a combination of GUI / CLI analysis and vendor support. Experience with VMware and cloud performance tuning, optimization, reporting, and capacity planning. iSCSI SAN management experience a plus . Patch and vulnerability management experience . Experience with migration of on-prem infrastructure, services and applications into a cloud environment Job Requirements: Emphasize virtualization technologies such as vmware, kvm, and Amazon AWS Manage existing infrastructure and implement and maintain infrastructure automation Drive key network infrastructure changes to improve a technical collection infrastructure Identify ways to improve infrastructure Win servers and replication infrastructure Maintain data center infrastructure and support systems Perform server and security audits Configure and maintain windows server Document the infrastructure to facilitate maintenance Assess existing infrastructure to provide recommendations Communicate infrastructure needs for capacity planning Support core production server systems, information systems, and technology infrastructure Ensure integration with the customer network infrastructure Resolve problems and develop infrastructure solutions Identify potential areas for improving processes/procedures, server configurations and server images Monitor and support all aspects of an infrastructure environment Resolve potentialpossible issues to the virtual infrastructure Maintain and administer virtual server environment Cloning virtual machines and server appliances Configure complex load balanced server environments
