Summary

As a National Bank Examiner/Bank Examiner (Asset Management), you will apply knowledge of asset management examination techniques in order to determine the financial institution's overall compliance with appropriate laws and regulations.

Responsibilities

As a National Bank Examiner/Bank Examiner (Asset Management), you will:
  • Supervise or assist in asset management examinations of community, midsize or large banks involving complex issues requiring extensive investigation and application of highly technical analysis and judgment.
  • Plan, organize, and control asset management supervisory activities which may include the supervision of assigned staff.
  • Monitor and evaluate work of assigned staff. Provide training and mentoring to asset management team members and assigned examination staff.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of asset management functions, identify systemic asset management risks and trends, and recommend changes in examination policy/procedures.
  • Review and discuss findings, conclusions, and areas of concern with Board of Directors, or senior bank management.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements within 60 calendar days after the closing date of this announcement:

You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the NB-V band level. Examples of specialized experience for this position include:
  • Leading exams or audits of a financial institution's asset management operations (i.e. personal and corporate trusts, investment management, retirement and financial planning, custodial services, etc.); OR
  • Leading exams or audits of a financial institution's compliance with laws, regulations and guidance related to asset management (i.e. personal and corporate trusts, investment management, retirement and financial planning, custodial services, etc.)

The experience may have been gained in the public sector, private sector, or through volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis.

  • This is a nontraditional position subject to the Alternative Location Arrangements PPM 3110-53. It may be filled in an
    alternate location within the MBS portfolio which is cost effective, operationally efficient, and complies with the standards
    contained in PPM 3110-53.
