Duties

Summary

The primary purpose of this job is to serve as a Laborer in the Corporate Services Branch. In addition to laboring work, the incumbent operates a 5-Ton truck to pick up and deliver cargo within and off the installation, and various duties to accomplish preventative maintenance, repair, and upkeep of DeCA building and grounds.

Responsibilities

  • Perform grounds maintenance to include yard care, tree pruning, snow removal and care of flowers and shrubs.
  • Perform minor plumbing and fixtures repairs such as sinks, faucets, commodes, urinals, showers and garbage disposals.
  • Inspect and performs building maintenance including minor carpentry and painting.
  • Load and unloads heavy boxes, bulky supplies and materials to and from the truck or dollies.
  • Use pallet jack to move, stack and un-stack, load and unload materials and operates a 5-ton truck to transport bulk materials.

Ensuring the maximum weight allowable for the vehicle is not exceeded. Using power and hand tools to perform routine carpentry, plumbing, electrical and ground maintenance tasks. Operating pallet jack to move, stack and un stack, load and unload materials. Performing general labor duties such as moving furniture and office equipment, housekeeping, setting up conference rooms and inspecting buildings for preventative maintenance
