Summary

This position is located at the Lynchburg Community Based Outpatient Clinic in Lynchburg, VA. The incumbent is responsible for collaborating with a Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT) to provide accessible, comprehensive, coordinated, continuous care to an assigned panel of patients.

Responsibilities

Duties include, but not limited to:
  • Perform H&P examinations, medical clearance examinations and provide clinical supervision of NPs/PAs, medical students and residents;
  • Participate actively in delivering in-service/training for medical center disciplines and services, in teaching of medical residents, medical students and fellows and; in supporting an environment that promotes excellence in health care and encourages continual learning;
  • Responsible for multiple activities including access to care, encounter completion, and customer satisfaction;
  • Support the Service-level Patient Advocate with the goal of service recovery;
  • Responsible for all other duties as assigned based on organizational needs.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday; 7:45 - 4:30

Qualifications

Basic Requirements:
  • United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
  • Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed.
  • Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
  • Completion of residency training, or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.

Reference: VA Regulations, specifically VA Handbook 5005, Part II, Appendix G-2 Physician Qualification Standard. This can be found in the local Human Resources Office.

Physical Requirements: Are limited to examining and treating patients, entering clinical documentation in the VA computerized patient care system (CPRS), and completing forms common to medical practice. Physical requirements include standing, walking, bending, and repetitive typing.

Annual leave shall accrue for full-time physicians at the rate of eight (8) hours per biweekly pay period.
