Description Job Description: Leidos has an opening for a Cloud Software Engineer. This position will be a remote position (Telecommute) with preferred locations around Ft. Meade, MD or Chantilly, VA, as customer visits to either location will be required, at times. POSITION SUMMARY: This opportunity will work on building out a big data system to manage, analyze and explore cyber data. The successful candidate will be writing code in Spark, Java and Python, deploying your solutions in the cloud, and explore the latest technologies available while building a cutting-edge platform. In this position, you will also be working on the latest data management approaches, delivering AI & ML modules on top of our big data platform and leveraging the absolute latest technology that Neflix, Apache and other industry leaders release. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Design and implement data-driven architectures. Lead a software module development process. Experience in different development environments (on premise, hardware, cloud), etc. Write clean, secure, interface oriented code in java, spark, or python. Work with Docker, Kubernetes and other automated deployment tools. Work on a distributed, high-paced, fast-moving and disciplined agile team. Programming in Python (preferred) or any other similar scripting language. Create tests, documentation and supporting materials for the product we are building. Able to learn quickly and to independently use available resources to close knowledge gaps. Be curious-ask why, explore the latest and greatest open source tools, and be fascinated by what s possible and what could be better. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Mathematics (preferred), and 4+ years relevant experience in software development. Experience with Python or any other similar scripting language. Java (and in-depth understanding of OOP). Solid understanding of Git. Experience with REST APIs. Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills . Must have an active Secret security clearance. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience with Kafka, Elastic Search, Spark. Ability to design, develop, and maintain applications within the cloud environment. A familiarity modern development approaches (serverless, containerization, cloud, continuous delivery, micro-services, event based applications). Familiarity with Data Analysis or Statistics, and some data wrangling (programmatically extracting databases, transforming data, modeling it in readable form, etc. Prior experience working on disciplined agile (scrum) teams.
