We are seeking a day shift NOC Network Engineer with active SECRET clearance to support our Navy Public Safety Network (PSNET) customer at the Washington, DC Navy Yard. In this position you will have flexibility with your working hours, and will work 12-hour, 3 and 4 day rotating shifts, with hours from 6AM to 6PM.The PSNet program that you will be supporting provides the technical, analytical and equipment-related IT support services required to achieve CNIC's mission of critical Protection Ashore, Public Safety/Anti-Terrorism (ATFP), and Emergency Management missions, functions, and requirements. The foundation of CNIC's enterprise network environment is the Public Safety Network (PSNet), a Global Information Grid-compliant network built upon Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) technology. PSNet is a specific network dedicated to providing end-to-end support of Life and Safety Command Control (C2) applications and systems for Navy installation first responders in CONUS, Europe, and Japan.As a NOC Network Engineer you will be responsible for the following:* Monitor and maintain the Navy Public Safety Network by helping to troubleshoot, analyze, and maintain networks.* Interfacing with customers and government representatives on network issues that are varied and range from simple to complex.* Create and resolve incident cases using BMC Remedy ITSM.* Provide in-depth knowledge and technical expertise in the areas of design, installation, maintenance, and support of network infrastructure following established methodologies and processes.* Perform extensive root cause analysis, problem determination, and support of technical issues related to MPLS, IPSec, basic router/switch/firewall configurations, and diverse routing protocols.* Handle level 2 & 3 escalation issues through troubleshooting highly complex network infrastructure problems.* Resolution is both reactive and proactive; typically requires significant research and analysis and working closely with the customer POC onsite in client location.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:* A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or other related technical degree and 2+ years of experience. Additional experience (8+ years) may be considered in lieu of a degree* 2+ years of hands-on experience with Juniper and Cisco network equipment* 2+ years working knowledge of Layer-3, VPNs, BGP, OSPF, firewall policy,VLAN management* 2+ years of the following: Ethernet, Ethernet Switching, IP, IP assignment, and IP routing* A CCNA certification or other networking certification* Ability to obtain Security + certification per DOD 8570 policy compliance 90 days after employment if you do not currently hold certification* This position requires you to already possess an active Secret security clearance and to maintain the clearance. In order to obtain a clearance you need to be a US Citizen and show proof of citizenship.DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:* Proficiency in Network Monitoring/Management Systems* Possess good analytical skills and experience with forward/reverse chaining troubleshooting techniques* Have experience with cable plant management for data and service provider connectivity* A reliable self-starter with the ability to follow instructions when needed and complete tasks in a timely fashionWe are an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
