Responsibilities

Pursuant to 50 USC § 3024 (v), and with concurrence and consultation with the Director of National Intelligence and the Director of the Office of Personnel Management, this position is being established in the excepted service as an element of the Intelligence Community within the Department of the Treasury.

As a Physical Security Specialist, you will:

-Plan, initiate, and conduct surveys throughout the organization for a variety of physical security purposes.

-Conduct surveys to identify and evaluate vulnerabilities existing in facilities.

-Evaluate new or different types of security systems and equipment for application within the organization. Included are personnel access controls, physical protection devices, monitoring equipment, security forces, alarm and detection devices, vaults, gates, fences, advanced locking devices, etc.

The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service . One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. Qualifications

Specialized experience for the GS-11: The applicant must have 52 weeks of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes AT LEAST 3 of the following:

-Conducting physical security compliancy based on Interagency Security Committee standards, policy, and regulations; OR

-Identifying and collecting information about security incidents and violations by interviewing employees, developing the facts, communicating lessons learned, and recommending corrective actions or changes to security; OR

-Detecting security gaps and recommending countermeasures for existing or new facilities by conducting surveys; OR

-Evaluating facility and grounds' plans and blueprints for security vulnerabilities in accordance with Interagency Security Committee standards; OR

-Demonstrated experience using HSPD-12 and Physical Access Control Systems and performing as a separated role (Registrar) in the US Access PIV Card system; AND

-Creating plans and procedures for establishing, operating, and assessing control systems misappropriation or abuse of HSPD-12 PIV assets; OR

-Determining level of security leased facilities based on the level of protection as stated in the Interagency Security Committee standards, agency policy, or procedures, and best practices.

OR You may substitute education for specialized experience as follows: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related.

OR You may qualify by a combination of successfully completed graduate level education and specialized experience. Only graduate level education in excess of the first 2 years may be combined with experience.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- A one year trial period may be required.
- Must have, or be able to obtain and maintain, a Top Secret security clearance based on a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI).
- Must be eligible for Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) access.
- Must successfully complete a background investigation.
- Complete a Declaration for Federal Employment to determine your suitability for Federal employment, at the time requested by the agency.
- If you are a male applicant born after December 31, 1959, certify that you have registered with the Selective Service System or are exempt from having to do so.
- Have your salary sent to a financial institution of your choice by Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer.
- Go through a Personal Identity Verification (PIV) process that requires two forms of identification from the Form I-9. Federal law requires verification of the identity and employment eligibility of all new hires in the U.S.
