Duties

Summary

You will serve as a Security Assistant, GG-09 grade level performing clerical and assistance work pertaining to security programs, security measures and background investigations for the Naval Information Command Information Command (NAVIFOR), Security Office (N03S).

Responsibilities

  • You will administers security briefings and debriefing oaths to persons eligible for security clearance.
  • You will work with management on matters regarding re-investigation requirements, and personnel assurance programs.
  • You will update the commands personnel clearance rosters and clearance information of all command personnel including reserve units, and contractors supporting the command.
  • You will assist in information collection and analysis of security related data, including typing and work processing.
  • You will assist in the control, dissemination and/or filing selected incoming and outgoing security correspondence and reference materials including messages, documents, and collected data.

  • You must obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance and access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI). Failure to do so may result in the withdrawal of an offer or removal. Indicate the level and date of your clearance in your resume.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • You must acknowledge in writing that you are accepting an appointment in the DCIPS (excepted service) which does not confer competitive status, prior to appointment.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS/GG-08) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the in private or public sector performing duties such as:
  • Assisting the commands security programs which include personnel security, industrial security and information security.
  • Develops documentation for senior specialists to use in determining the suitability and security eligibility of personnel for entry and retention in sensitive and non-sensitive positions.
  • Initiating and reviewing background investigations to include initial and periodic re-investigations.
