Summary: This individual is a clinically competent registered nurse. He/she will ensure the efficient management of scheduling all interventional procedures within the Imaging department; effectively delivers pre/post procedural instruction to the patients through the nursing process of assessment and evaluation. Performs duties and provides care to patients as needed in the procedural areas and department. Other information: Must be a graduate of an program of professional nursing. Minimum 2 years of RN experience in a hospital setting (with in the past 5 years). BLS/ACLS trained and certified. Must complete Point of Care Testing training as a part of orientation. Must have a current license as a Registered Nurse from the state of Delaware Responsibilities: Demonstrates proficiency with the procedure scheduling process and established guidelines- able to effectively and efficiently schedule patient procedures in a timely fashion. Able to organize and coordinate patient schedules with the necessary resources that are required to perform an interventional procedure. Work collaboratively with provider offices to coordinate procedure appointment times. Communicates with the ordering provider office staff to ensure the required paper work has been received and is checked for accuracy to support the request. Prepares patient packet with necessary paperwork for the approval process between the Radiologist and the patient care staff. Demonstrate working knowledge of all equipment within the department. related to nursing and scheduling related items. Assist physician in circulator role during a procedure. Able to take direction for administering certain medications during a procedure under the direct supervision of the physician. Assists physician with scrub duties utilizing sterile technique to prevent cross-contamination; assists physician in circulator role by giving medications/contrast under MD supervision in accordance with departmental policy; administers moderate sedation and provide monitoring to safely care for the patient; reviews patient chart; demonstrates knowledge of access site management. Actively participates in performance improvement activities or processes to include evaluating, reporting, and follow-up recommendations. Demonstrates the knowledge of radiation safety; practices radiation protection for the patient, staff, and yourself. Demonstrates knowledge of the MRI machine and MRI safety. Supports department success through inventory and order of supplies; collaboratively reviewing schedules and ensuring sufficient coverage; assuring Joint Commission standards are met for areas of responsibility. Other duties as assigned.
