Summary

This position will support the Federal Government's response efforts to COVID-19.

This position is located at the Richmond Service Unit in various tribal locations. This position will provide quality outreach health care services and community-based health promotion and disease prevention services.

Responsibilities

Assist with client's medication education and translates prescription directions as needed and provides education on healthy lifestyle habits to all clients. Assists with delivery of supplies to prevent COVID-19 spread and picks up medications at various pharmacies and delivers to homes.
Remotely participates in all community health promotion and disease prevention activities.
If shelter in place is lifted; develops and coordinates transportation schedule and communicates pick up times with patients.
If shelter in place is lifted; Develops reports of number of transportation services provided.
Must have unrestricted valid state issued drivers license (any state).

This is a designated position covered by Public Law 101-630, requiring contact or control over Indian children. Upon tentative selection, selectee will be requested to complete, sign, and submit the Addendum to OF-306, Child Care & Indian Child Care Worker Position form. Due to this requirement, the agency must ensure that persons hired for these positions have not been found guilty of or pleaded nolo contendere or guilty to certain crimes.

Measles and Rubella immunization required for selectees born after 1957. Seasonal Influenza immunization is required for civilian health care facility staff working in Indian Health Service health care facilities.

Drug testing required if/when transporting patients.

Use of personally owned motor vehicle may be required to transport medications, supplies, and/or other items needed by eligible community members.

Security Clearance: If you are selected for this vacancy, you must undergo a pre-employment fingerprint check and background investigation. Fingerprint results and background investigation documentation must be cleared prior to hire. You will receive instructions on how to obtain and submit fingerprints and background investigation documentation. After you begin your employment, your continued employment is contingent upon the outcome of a complete background investigation as determined by the sensitivity level of your position. Qualifications

To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

For positions requiring positive education requirements, or if you are using education to meet all or part of the qualification requirements, you MUST submit a copy of your transcripts or an itemized list of college courses which includes equivalent information from the transcript (course title, semester/quarter hours, and grade/degree earned) in your resume.

Minimum Qualification Requirements:

GS-04: 6 months of general experience and 6 months of specialized experience or 2 years above highschool in courses related to the position being filled.
General Experience: (l) Any type of work that demonstrates the applicant's ability to perform the work of the position, or (2) experience that provided a familiarity with the subject matter or processes of the broad subject area of the occupation.

Specialized Experience: Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level.
Specialized Experience GS-04: At least 6 months of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS3 grade level. Experience personalized health care and health education to assigned clients. Experience assisting in the delivery of supplies to individuals in the community. Experience in monitoring blood glucose, blood preasure, substance use and/or misuse prevention or other community health out-reach related experience.

Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).

Federal Employees earn annual leave at a rate (4, 6 or 8 hours per pay period) which is based on the number of years they have served as a Federal employee. IHS may offer newly-appointed Federal employees credit for their directly related previous non-federal experience or active duty uniformed military service. This credited service can be used in determining the rate at which they earn annual leave is earned.

This position has no promotion potential past the GS-04 grade level.
