Summary

Due to the Pandemic, and individual states with different phases of reopening, the selectee's report date to the official duty station/facility may be delayed until such time as employees are allowed to report to the workplace. The person selected may telework up to the maximum extent possible, up to and including full time, until it is safe to relocate.

Responsibilities

Serves as a Technical Publications Writer performing a variety of writing and editing duties. Applies experience and a basic knowledge to conduct research using a variety of sources to collect information used as groundwork in generating documents. He/She gathers necessary technical informaiton from subject matter experts (e.g. aerospace engineers, foreign affairs specialist, aviation safety inspectors) as well as team leads, attorney's, and/or management officials. Primarily prepare, write, edit, research, and develop and/or process the following: Bilateral Aviation Safety Agreements Inplementation Procedures for Airworthiness, advisory circulars, FAA orders, Maintenance of Confidence reports, reports to congress on progress on reauthorization initatives, techncial implementation procedures, continued airworthiness notices to the international communities, and performs other duties as assigned. Will oversee the timeley processing of these documents by tracking, monitoring and reporting on their progress via computer databases. Performs basic but progressively more difficult assignments under the close supervision of a manager, team lead, or more experienced professional/subject matter expert. Contacts are primarily internal to the organizational unit with a manager and other employees. May have contacts with customers and other external parties on routine matters and to gather information. Established policies/procedures provide detailed guidance for almost all assignments, with little room for discretion. Regularly refers problems and work issues to management. Work is reviewed regularly during assignments and completion to ensure timeliness and all aspects of quality. Work activities typically support the work of other employees and contgribute to activities of the office of the organization. The work will affect internal and external stakeholders, and other foreign civil aviation authorities.

Occasional travel - The job may require travel from time- to-time, but not on a regular basis. The travel may be for training or other work-related duties.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the FV-E, FG/GS-5/6 level. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. Specialized experience is described as experience that provides an understanding of the basic principles, practices, operations, and specialized vocabulary of technical publication writings.
