Summary

This position serves as the Director of the Office of Research Evaluation & Operations (OREO), DEA, NIDDK, NIH. OREO oversees & coordinates disease coding & reporting for the NIDDK extramural program, especially by coordinating the Research, Condition, & Disease Categorization (RCDC) process & organizing manual data collections for special reports & excepted coding categories.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees and coordinates disease coding and reporting for the NIDDK extramural program, especially by coordinating the Research, Condition, and Disease Categorization (RCDC) process
  • Organizes manual data collections for special reports and excepted coding categories
  • Manages the NIH Guide publication process associated with publishing Funding Opportunity Announcements and Notices
  • Supports NIDDK Advisory Council activities
  • Serves as NIDDK's liaison for inclusion policy, inclusion reporting and coordinates NIDDK's contribution to the NIH biennial report on Inclusion of Women and Minorities in Clinical Research
  • Facilitates harmonization of activities among NIDDK's four extramural divisions, and coordinates and performs analyses, evaluations and other special projects at the request of the NIDDK leadership
  • Oversees the Committee Management Service Center (SC) program and its management advisory services for SC clients

Qualifications

Education Requirements:
In order to qualify for a Supervisor Health Science Policy Analyst, GS-0601, position you must have successfully completed a full 4 year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a Bachelor's degree or graduate/higher level degree with major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. (This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained).

Basic Requirements:
In addition, in order to qualify for a Supervisor Health Science Policy Analyst, 0601, at the GS-15 level
, you must have at least one year of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-14 level in the Federal Government obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: overseeing staff on an extensive and comprehensive committee management program; analyzing both administrative processes and scientific programs to evaluate how well program areas are meeting established objectives; overseeing intellectual and data collection support for institute-wide studies and projects that have organizational impact; developing, maintaining, and coordinating policies and procedures for the clearance and tracking of all Requests for Applications (RFAs), Program Announcements (PARs), Notices of Special Interest (NOSI) and Requests for Proposals (RFPs); recommending to senior Institute leadership evaluations or procedures that should be pursued in order to improve the overall effectiveness of the program areas.
