The USAID Junior Program Analyst , in collaboration with and in support of the Bureau for Policy, Planning and Learning (PPL) Strategic Engagement Team Lead, will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations of Strategic Engagement, which includes: managing the flow of information into and from the team; managing scheduling and providing logistical support to events; drafting memos, presentations, and other materials; and conducting research. The PPL Strategic Engagement Team focuses on policy leadership on issues of countering malign influence "Clear Choice" and Great-Power Competition. It is located in PPL's Policy Office and works closely with both the PPL and Agency Front Offices. The Junior Program Analyst reports to the Strategic Engagement Team Lead and coordinates with him/her on day-to-day priorities. It is a small team that requires all members to work on all aspects of team priorities to fulfill team objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Help to manage team workflow, including managing taskers and other information requests.
  • Provide scheduling support, maintain meeting calendar, and assist in preparing meeting agendas, background materials, and outcome documents.
  • Draft or provide substantial inputs to memos, briefing materials, talking points, guidance documents, and presentations for the Strategic Engagement Team.
  • Collect and share relevant news articles through a news digest function.
  • Collect and share information on relevant events, including think tanks, other USG agencies, or academic institutions on topics related to Strategic Engagement.
  • Conduct research, as requested, on topics related to Strategic Engagement policies, outreach, and programming.
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Minimum Qualifications: (To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.)
    • Bachelor's degree in a field related to social sciences or international development
    • 3 years of work experience

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
    • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret-level security clearance (U.S. citizenship required)
    • Ability to use standard computer applications, such as the Microsoft Office Suite and Google Apps
    • Ability to pass a criminal background check
    • Ability to work effectively both individually and as a member of a team
    • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and work within tight deadlines
    • Ability to plan, organize, and use time effectively
    • Strong written and oral communication skills

    • The employee will normally work in a temperature-controlled office environment, with frequent exposure to electronic office equipment.
    • During visits to areas of operations, may be exposed to extreme cold or hot weather conditions. Is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and loud noise.
