Aegis Weapon Systems Engineer
Description SAIC is searching for candidates to join a team of engineers supporting the Command, Control, Communications and Computers C4I) Division of the Aegis Ashore Missile Defense organization of the Missile Defense Agency (MDA). The successful candidate will perform systems engineering activities and subject matter expertise in support of Aegis Ashore (AA) C4I development and engineering efforts. This position is located in Dahlgren, Virginia. Responsibilities: Participate in reviews and assessments of C4I engineering products.Prepare C4I engineering products and collaborate with stakeholders as part of the engineering objective documentation and analysis process.Coordinate the development and validation, verification and testing (VVT) of the C4I portion of the Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS). Provide technical input to engineering meetings, present product development updates, analysis, and failure review summaries.Represent and support Aegis C4I integration issues within established BMDS forums and coordinate across Aegis Combat System elements to address BDMS-level event BMDS Test Incident Reports (BTIRs) and other test observations.Represent and support Aegis C4I integration issues and test planning with working groups such as the Joint Scenario Working Group (JSWG), Scenario Design Working Group (SDWG), Mission Readiness Working Group (MRWG), and BMDS Requirements Working Group (BRWG). Provide input on measures used to validate models, evaluate test cases to ensure performance adequately assessed, and help interpret test results to identify problems and impacts to overall planning capability. Qualifications This position requires a BS in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics or related technical degree and 5+ years of related experience.Active Secret ClearanceUnderstanding and experience with the various watch stations in an Aegis Combat Information Center is required as well as an understanding of the make-up and operations of Aegis Weapons System Baseline 9. Technical knowledge of Aegis weapon system configuration and functionality.Solid technical writing and presentation development capabilityExperience with Microsoft Office products (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook) Desired Qualifications: Strong knowledge of all aspects of the C4I mission area and at a minimum, Joint Tactical Data Links, Joint Extended Range capability and Line of Sight Link 16 (LOS 16).Understanding of the Link Architecture to include the various interfaces and messages which are passed from one element of the C4I suite to another.Qualification as a Combat Systems Maintenance Manager or System Test Officer Joint Interface Control Officer (JICO).Fundamental knowledge of ship integration activities (shipboard terms, operations, schedules, configuration management tools, and directives).
