Job Description: The American Red Cross seeks a creative and energetic individual to join our engineering team in delivering mission-critical applications that support ARC's mission to "prevent and alleviate human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors." We accomplish this primarily through a public-facing application at RedCross.org where we process transactions for donations, class registrations and product purchases, as well as through a number of internal business systems tied into a corporate intranet called The Exchange. This role will focus on supporting our fundraising activities. The incumbent will have frequent and close contact with a broad range of stakeholders, including product owners, business leaders, software engineers, IT managers, business analysts, contractors, consultants, and vendors to deliver enterprise-class software within time and budget constraints. The successful candidate will be expected to engage actively in the design and development of ground-breaking software that fits the overall strategy of providing high-quality re-usable fundraising solutions to the enterprise. This role will work collaboratively to design, build, test, deploy and maintain quality, scalable solutions for RedCross.org and related platforms. Key Requirements Applicants should have 5+ years' experience in most of the following areas: Modern, distributed, cloud native services built using VM based languages, container, messaging, and data storage techniques Experience with the .NET platform strongly preferred Modern, mobile-first UI/UX web application design, including NodeJS build tools and integrating with custom and 3rd party APIs/services Technical leadership on an agile team Product roadmap planning and communication Solution design in a heterogenous enterprise ecosystem, including integration with downstream end points like accounting systems, data warehouse and other operational data sources Working remotely and asynchronously with a team distributed across all US time zones Effective verbal and written communication skills. Should be able to adapt communication style to suit different audiences. KEY AREAS OF FOCUS- Product Planning:Partner closely with our IT product lead to discover business needs, document technical requirements, influence the "art of the possible" and recommend solution architectures that drive business value and enhance the technical ecosystem in a cost-effective and sustainable manner. Application Development: Partner closely with agile teams, particularly lead developers, to translate requirements and solution design into actionable development plans with measurable milestones and KPI targets. End-user Support: Be the primary Tier 3 layer of support for fundraising solutions by developing a deep knowledge of existing applications/platforms and working with support engineers to resolve incidents and problems within an SLA-driven ITSM framework. Mentorship and other duties: Be a senior leader on the fundraising team such that you lead by example in your commitment to operational excellence, delivery of quality business solutions, successful outcomes-based performance, cross-team knowledge building and willingness to tackle other related duties as needed. Education & Certifications: Bachelor's degree in MIS, computer science, software engineering, information systems or related field 7+ years total work experience with at least 5 years in most of the Key Requirements listed above.
