Job Description

Full-Stack Software Engineer position in a warehousing/manufacturing environment. This position requires an understanding of manufacturing methodologies, product logistics, IT systems and architecture, and programming experience in several high-level languages. It affords considerable autonomy and the opportunity to creatively build and deploy applications in support of both legacy systems and newly commissioned commercial products, so a desire to learn new technologies is required.

The ideal candidate will have 10 + years of experience in general software development and be experienced in several of the following:
  • Oracle PL/SQL and the integration of large databases into manufacturing SCADA systems
  • Enterprise Java development using Eclipse, NetBeans, or a similar integrated development environment
  • Cross-platform database integration, including using ODBC, JDBC, and Oracle link tables
  • Web application development using Java, HTML/CSS, XML, PHP and/or NodeJS and Angular
  • Messaging systems such as Glassfish or IBM MQ.
  • Additional high level languages such as ANSI C, C++, or .NET
  • Application development within and administration of various operating systems including Windows and Linux on both physical and virtual platforms.
  • Shell scripting using bash, korn shell, and Windows command files.
  • An understanding of basic network concepts, firewalls, and segmentation.

Additionally, the selected candidate will have:
  • a desire to work in a fast-paced, time critical manufacturing environment.
  • a willingness to provide on-call, after hours support as needed.
  • a willingness to occasionally shift work hours to support a production schedule.
  • a desire to work on both software and industrial hardware systems and see those systems implemented in a mission critical production environment.
  • an ability to interpret technical requirements and deliver a technical solution for non-technical clients.
  • a willingness to take ownership to shepherd a solution from inception to deployment and maintenance.
  • an ability to interface with production / manufacturing management and to communicate technical issues related to their requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities

Note: While this position will initially focus on Oracle application support and related technologies, there is an expectation the position will be involved in the migration to other newer technologies over time.
  • Performs analysis, estimation, application design, data model design, programming and testing of complex enterprise-level software applications and interfaces with limited oversight
  • Provides on-call support on a rotational schedule for mission-critical production processes
  • Independently analyzes and resolves complex technical issues or business problems. Shepherds a solution from inception to deployment and maintenance
  • Develops, documents and executes system test plans and works with the production business community
  • Serves as the technical lead over small to medium application development projects
